Dr. Vanessa Schmidt is a Clinical Instructor of Medicine at the David Geffen UCLA School of Medicine. Her clinical interests include diabetes, weight management, insulin pump therapy, continuous glucose monitoring, Telemedicine, as well as general endocrine disorders. She has conducted clinical research on diabetes, obesity, and bone health, has published articles, and has given numerous lectures. She also speaks fluent Spanish.
Dr. Schmidt was born and raised in Chicago. She received her MD degree at Northwestern Feinberg School of Medicine and completed her Internal Medicine residency at the University of Illinois at Chicago. During her residency, she also performed both diabetes research at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and osteoporosis research at the Jesse Brown VA medical center. She completed her fellowship in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism at the Baylor College of Medicine. She joined the faculty at UCLA in 2016.
During her free time, she likes to spend her time outdoors, visiting farmer�s markets, cooking nutritious meals, and traveling.
