Chronic venous insufficiency (CVI) is a medical condition in which blood pools in the veins, straining the walls of the vein. The most common cause of CVI is venous reflux which is a treatable condition. As functional venous valves are required to provide for efficient blood return from the lower extremities, this condition typically affects the legs. If the impaired vein function causes significant symptoms, such as swelling and ulcer formation, it is referred to as chronic venous disease. Call us today at 269-979-6310. Peripheral arterial disease (PAD) is a narrowing of arteries in the legs that limits mobility, causes pain, and creates poor circulation. Atherosclerosis is a common cause of PAD. The symptoms may be present in any part of the legs from the thigh to the feet. When blood can’t flow freely into your legs and feet, you’re more likely to get an infection. So a tiny sore can become a bigger problem. When you see things on your feet that don’t look right see your doctor. Give us a call at 269-979-6310.
Exercise keeps us all fit and healthy, and for patients with vascular disease it can be particularly important. Patients with peripheral vascular disease can improve their symptoms and ability to be more mobile, by undertaking a specific exercise program. Patients who require an operation, both major and minor, can improve their recovery by being fitter and healthier beforehand. Could this be the right time for you to increase your level of exercise? Start with simple goals, and slowly build up your own exercise regime.

WHAT ARE SOME SYMPTOMS OF DEEP VEIN THROMBOSIS Symptoms of DVT can include: Pain Swelling Tenderness Redness of the skin HOW IS A DVT DIAGNOSED? Only a doctor can diagnose DVT. If your doctor thinks you may have DVT a full physical examination may be necessary. There are several exams that a doctor might use to detect a DVT. A medical history is performed to collect and review recent medical history, including medications and surgeries. A physical exam is performed by a healthcare provider to evaluate signs and symptoms, risk factors, and examine the affected area. Ultrasound uses a device placed over the part of your body where there’s a suspected blood clot and sends sound waves into the area. A computer transforms the waves into an image that can often show the presence of a clot.
