“You know, a dog can snap you out of any kind of bad mood that you’re in faster than you can think of.” – Jill Abramson It's National Friendship Day! What better friend is there than man's best friend themselves!? We'd love to see some photos of you and your furry best friend below!
Congratulations to Bubba, who graduated from chemotherapy treatment this week! Bubba, a 9 year old pug/schnauzer mix, first came to see our medical oncology department in March of this year. He had previously been diagnosed with lymphoma by his primary care veterinarian. Our medical oncologist, Dr. Strottner, and her team began by sending out a test called Flow Cytometry. This is used in identifying cellular subsets to determine whether a patient has B Cell or T Cell lymphoma. This helps to determine the best course of treatment for each patient. Once diagnosis was complete, Bubba began his treatment course, and breezed through with flying colors. Bubba is such a happy little guy every time he comes to see us, though we are pretty sure he just loves us for all the cookies he gets when he's here! 😉 We love you, Bubba!

We know you’re so excited to go on some autumn nature walks with your dog, but for this #FallSafetyTip, make sure you watch out for snakes, some of which can be venomous! They’re preparing for hibernation and may be a little crankier if disturbed by a curious pet! 🐍 When walking or hiking, if something happens to your pet, be sure to contact your veterinarian as soon as possible. #VCApets
Today is Global Cat Day, a special occasion devoted to unowned, free-roaming “community” cats. These cats often get a bad rap but it’s important to understand that these cats aren’t so different from our beloved pets. As a matter of fact, many are living on the streets as a result of being abandoned by their families. We've included some tips to help manage and care for the community cats in your neighborhood. Helping these cats starts by being a responsible guardian! Spay/neuter your own cat and keep them indoors. * In just seven years, a single pair of cats and their offspring could produce a staggering total of 420,000 kittens! #VCApets
Veterinary Technicians wear many hats and each have their own style. One thing they share is their love and dedication to each patient that comes through the door.
