October is National Pet Wellness Month! So make sure to schedule a routine check-up if it’s been a while ❤️🐶
Make your daily cuddles fun and productive by regularly checking your pet’s skin and coat for fleas! Check the neck area, stomach, ears, between the toes and around the tail base. Also, check your pet’s bedding—flea waste (“flea dirt”) may be found in their favorite napping spot even when you don’t spot fleas on your pet.
In honor of #nationalblackdogday yesterday, let’s see some pics of your own beautiful black doggos!
In warm, humid areas, fleas thrive year-round. But even in more seasonal climates, a warm spring or fall can extend the flea season up to 10 months a year. Vigilance and prevention with year-round flea control medication are vital in keeping your pet protected from these pests.
Fleas can cause irritating infestations that affect your pet, your family and your home. These pests can live inside your home all year long, so it’s important to protect your pet with a preventive that kills adult fleas and prevents flea eggs from hatching. Give us a call if you need to get some flea and tick preventatives!
This World Rabies Day, we ask that if your pet hasn’t been vaccinated against the disease, make an appointment—a safe pet is a happy pet!
Household cleaners and lawn and garden products should be kept safely stowed and away from curious paws and noses. If you suspect your dog or cat has ingested a toxin, call your veterinarian immediately.
Don’t let your dog eat any table scraps, even with those puppy dog eyes! Foods like onions, garlic, raisins and more can be dangerous for your pets. Remember, while chocolate is safe for humans, this yummy treat is toxic for dogs and cats. Learn more about common household toxins for your pet. https://bit.ly/39B8w0V
Did you know pets and wildlife can accidentally get tangled in thrown-out medical masks? Here are a few tips for throwing out a single-use mask. Wash your hands before removing the straps from behind your ears or head, without touching the front of the mask. Cut the straps and dispose of the mask in a closed garbage bin so it does not fly away, and then sanitize your hands once again. #vcapets
Since March is Pet Poison Prevention Month, we are going to round out the end of the month with common household pet toxins to watch out for. If you suspect your dog or cat has ingested a toxin, call your veterinarian immediately.
