Meet Arvin! He's smart, he’s handsome, and he’s currently available for adoption at PAWS Chicago. Even though WE know how great he is, he’s just not confident in himself in new situations and needs a hand finding the perfect family. Arvin’s one of a handful of pets at PAWS Chicago looking for a special home! Each week, we’ll share an adoptable dog or cat who’s been a little overlooked but doesn’t deserve to be forgotten - because harder to home doesn’t mean harder to love. Arvin would love to find a family that: 🐶: Has a big, fenced yard in a quiet neighborhood. 🐶: Follows a regular routine. 🐶: Has no kids or kids 12+. 🐶: Has no pets or has a big, energetic dog that Arvin can play with! When you adopt through PAWS Chicago, you’ll receive a VCA Healthy Start Certificate, giving you a free visit with a veterinarian within 14 days of adoption and covering the cost of illness in the first two weeks of adoption (up to $500). We know you’re so excited to go on some autumn nature walks with your dog, but for this #FallSafetyTip, make sure you watch out for snakes, some of which can be venomous! They’re preparing for hibernation and may be a little crankier if disturbed by a curious pet! 🐍 When walking or hiking, if something happens to your pet, be sure to contact your veterinarian as soon as possible. #VCApets
Today is Global Cat Day, a special occasion devoted to unowned, free-roaming “community” cats. These cats often get a bad rap but it’s important to understand that these cats aren’t so different from our beloved pets. As a matter of fact, many are living on the streets as a result of being abandoned by their families. We've included some tips to help manage and care for the community cats in your neighborhood. Helping these cats starts by being a responsible guardian! Spay/neuter your own cat and keep them indoors. * In just seven years, a single pair of cats and their offspring could produce a staggering total of 420,000 kittens! #VCApets
Meet five-year-old Scout! We bet you can tell from her picture that she LOVES a good photoshoot. What you probably can’t tell, though, is that Scout’s having trouble finding a home. To her family at PAWS Chicago, she’s a perfect 10. Her former foster mom says “Scout was one of my favorite fosters and house guests!” We hear she’s even trained. But, despite everything she has going for her, she’s overlooked because of the specific home she needs. Don’t forget about Scout. If your family is kid- and pet-free with a Scout-shaped hole to fill, you might be her people! Learn more about her and the PAWS Chicago Virtual Adoption Process at bit.ly/2Iydgwh. Because PAWS is a VCA partner, you’ll receive a VCA Healthy Start Certificate, giving you a free visit with a veterinarian within 14 days of adoption and covering the cost of illness in the first two weeks of adoption (up to $500) when you adopt.
Happy Take a Hike Day! Does your pet love to go for hikes with you? Post a picture of them on their favorite hike. Check out Kaida below she prefers backpacking with a view on her hikes.
Roxanne is this week's PAWS Chicago underdog. Despite her adorable smile and repertoire of tricks, like sit and shake, this two-year-old Terrier/Bulldog mix hasn't had a whole lot of interest from adopters. Roxanne can be a bit intimidated around new people but one she feels safe, she'll gladly sit on your feet for hours of head scratches. PAWS Chicago knows it just takes the right person to stumble upon this post to find Roxanne's future family. If your home is adults-only, pet-free, and filled with experienced dog owners ready to help Roxanne feel comfortable and safe, that might be you! Meet her at https://bit.ly/3eLkqbZ or find all of PAWS Chicago's other adoptable animals on their website. As a VCA partner, PAWS provides all adopters a VCA Healthy Start Certificate, giving you a free visit with a veterinarian within 14 days of adoption and covering the cost of illness in the first two weeks of adoption (up to $500).
