Last call for food donations!
Tomorrow is the last day we will be accepting donations to help pets in Baltimore City. On Saturday they will be taken and distributed to pets in need. We are accepting any unopened cat and dog food; they can be left in front of our building.
Thank you in advance for helping these wonderful pets and families!
VCA Columbia Animal Hospital at Hickory Ridge in partnership with the WALTHAM™ Centre of Pet Nutrition ( @walthamscience ) is seeking dogs that have either pancreatitis or chronic enteropathy (intestinal disease) to participate in the WALTHAM™ Biobank Project.
The purpose of this project is to establish a collection of pet information and biological samples that can be analyzed to improve prevention, diagnosis and treatment of these illnesses. This study includes a simple blood and fecal sample collection along with a physical examination, all procedures are at no cost to you.
If you think your dog may qualify for this study please contact our team at (410) 730-2122.
Chronic enteropathy, also known as intestinal disease, is often associated with persistent signs of diarrhea, vomiting, weight loss or decreased appetite. If your dog has any of these symptoms please contact us today to schedule an appointment.
As many of you know a few times a year, we are lucky enough to help with the BMore Clinics.
Unfortunately due to Covid, the clinics will not be happening this year. We would still like to support those same pets in need through food donations.
Please donate unopened dog or cat food before August 20th so we can put it in the hands of Baltimore pets in need.
Donations can be dropped off in front of our hospital!
Today doesn’t just mark the first day of August, it’s also the start of Dogust, the Universal Birthday for Shelter Dogs! This wholesome holiday marks an honorary birthday for adopted shelter dogs, as their exact ones are often unknown.

Hi Everyone! We are working diligently to continue providing medical care for your furry family members while keeping you and our staff safe.
Just as a reminder, at this time we are still operating with our Covid 19 curbside protocol. Meaning when you arrive, give us a call and a technician will get a history, go over the plan, and then come out to you and borrow your pet.
Thank you so much for your cooperation and support as we navigate these tricky times. If you have any questions please give us a call.
Stay Safe Everyone!
We know you’re so excited to go on some autumn nature walks with your dog, but for this #FallSafetyTip, make sure you watch out for snakes, some of which can be venomous! They’re preparing for hibernation and may be a little crankier if disturbed by a curious pet! 🐍
When walking or hiking, if something happens to your pet, be sure to contact your veterinarian as soon as possible. #VCApets

Today is Global Cat Day, a special occasion devoted to unowned, free-roaming “community” cats. These cats often get a bad rap but it’s important to understand that these cats aren’t so different from our beloved pets. As a matter of fact, many are living on the streets as a result of being abandoned by their families.
We've included some tips to help manage and care for the community cats in your neighborhood.
Helping these cats starts by being a responsible guardian! Spay/neuter your own cat and keep them indoors.
* In just seven years, a single pair of cats and their offspring could produce a staggering total of 420,000 kittens! #VCApets
