We know that while outdoors this summer, you and your pet will practice safe social distancing. Ticks, however, which normally live in tall grassy areas, may not. To help keep your dogs safe from tick-borne diseases, make sure they’re up to date on their parasite prevention. Not sure? Call your local VCA today! #VCApets
If you’re planning on having a backyard BBQ, remember to keep your dog’s safety in mind! Keep them away from the hot grill and the hot sun—bring them inside or set them up in the shade if they begin to pant excessively ☀️. Make sure they stay hydrated too 💦#VCApets

We know you’re so excited to go on some autumn nature walks with your dog, but for this #FallSafetyTip, make sure you watch out for snakes, some of which can be venomous! Today is Global Cat Day, a special occasion devoted to unowned, free-roaming “community” cats. These cats often get a bad rap but it’s important to understand that these cats aren’t so different from our beloved pets. As a matter of fact, many are living on the streets as a result of being abandoned by their families. We've included some tips to help manage and care for the community cats in your neighborhood. Helping these cats starts by being a responsible guardian! Spay/neuter your own cat and keep them indoors. * In just seven years, a single pair of cats and their offspring could produce a staggering total of 420,000 kittens! #VCApets
We are pleased to announce our employee spotlight of the month! Meet Joey Smith. He has been with VCA Companion Animal Medical Center since June of 2020 as a Customer Service Representative. Joey and his husband, Steven, adopted a child at birth named Liam who is now 5 years old. When not working hard caring for animals and our clients, Joey enjoys hiking, video games and indoor cycling on his Peleton. Prior to coming here, Joey worked for 8 years as an Occupational Therapist for St Vincent, nursing homes, and Riverview Health. His husband is also the medical director of Nursing and a nurse Practitioner at IU Health. They are a family truly dedicated to the health industry!
