Today is Global Cat Day, a special occasion devoted to unowned, free-roaming “community” cats. These cats often get a bad rap but it’s important to understand that these cats aren’t so different from our beloved pets. As a matter of fact, many are living on the streets as a result of being abandoned by their families.

“I just wanted to thank Dr. Longo and the staff at VCA Firehouse for the amazing care during our 16 year old kitty’s dental. Although we had concerns going in because of Joon’s age, overall health, and amount of dental issues she had, Dr. Longo took the time to walk us through all the necessary tests to ensure Joon was physically ready for the procedure, proactively addressed potential issues, and patiently answered all our “worried parent” questions. Shortly after the surgery, Joon was eating better than she had in years, and now is far more engaged with us and our other cats. In fact, in many ways, she acts very much like a kitten in her increased level of playfulness. We are so thankful we had the procedure done, and would encourage anyone who is hesitant about a senior cat dental to talk to the staff about it. The quality of care was incredible – it was well worth it to us, and to our cat!”
Georgia is our February Pet of the Month! Georgia is a typical Beagle, she is very interested in treats and when her next meal will be! She spends lots of time hanging around the dishwasher and comes running when she hears the crinkle of a plastic bag. Unlike her fellow Beagles, she's a quiet gal and only whines when she wants to go for a walk or needs her dinner. She loves the outdoors, especially swimming and fetching. She sleeps on 2 pillows, at least, and has to be touching you at all times. Georgia is very friendly, and has never met a stranger. Her latest trick is to escape under the fence to say hello to her neighbor! Thanks for making February a delight Georgia! #petofthemonth #vca #vcafirehouse #weloveourpatients
