Today we honor all members of the military, past and present, dead or alive, two legged and four. Like Rex. Rex was a handsome, huge, tough-looking Army dog who would sniff for bombs, and on breaks, voluntarily keep watch over his soldiers instead of chill, as you can see in this photo from his time in Iraq. People who didn't know Rex assumed he could do serious harm if need be, but his handler, Amanda Ingraham, said he was a gentle giant. In honor of all military dogs and handlers, I've uploaded Rex's chapter from my book Soldier Dogs on a brand-new "bonus" page of my website. This is a first for me!
