Fall is a season where mice and rodents like to make their way into your home. So for this #FallSafetyTip, we ask that if you’re using rodenticides, keep them away from pets because they’re toxic! #VCApets
Meet Dr. Dowell! We are so excited for her to be joining our team as an ER Veterinarian. Dr. Taylor Dowell is a general practitioner with interests in surgery and emergency medicine. She grew up in the Seattle area and knew from an early age that her affection for animals would evolve into a career. Her clients would describe her as upbeat and someone connects with every type of person. Dr. Dowell completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Montana in wildlife biology. She attended veterinary school at Washington State University. She has worked in veterinary hospitals since 2011. Her experience also includes working at a wildlife sanctuary, a rehabilitation center in Africa and a hospital & animal rescue in Thailand. In her downtime, Dr. Dowell enjoys exploring the nature and dining in her new home in Atlanta and relaxing with her dog, Kiko and 2 cats, Bagheera and Asuna.
Meet Floyd! Floyd has been coming to see us since he was 8 weeks old and weighed 20lbs. He is now 8 months old and weighs 87lbs. He will likely grow to be over 150lbs. The Newfoundland is known for its calm and docile nature and its strength. They are highly loyal and make ideal working dogs. It is for this reason that this breed is known as "the gentle giant" They are excellent swimmers and were bred to save people from shipwrecks.
We had a very fun employee outing at Painting with a Twist! It was a private party with just us....even our painting instructor was one of us! (Cristina is a part time Client Service Representative here) It was nice to get out and have some safe fun outside of the hospital.
Last month we had "can you guess the baby picture" on our Bark Board. Keyona was the winner with the most correct answers. This month is "tell us about yourself." We are listing our favorite drink, favorite food, favorite tv show/movie, favorite hobbies/activities outside of work and what we wanted to be when we grow up. (I bet you can guess the number one answer here....Veterinarian!)
Meet Violet! Violet is a 6 month old Irish Wolfhound puppy that is growing like a week. Irish Wolfhounds are the tallest breed of dog. This is her in April and just a few days ago in September. Niki is clearly in love with Violet!
Pets get springtime allergies too! Dust, plants, pollens and insects can all be irritants! If you think your pet may be allergic to something, consult your VCA veterinarian. Learn more about pet allergies here: https://bit.ly/3jD7yHB 🌸🐶#vcapets
Meet Ginger! VCA Animal Hospitals, partnering with Atlanta Humane Society, wants to share this 2-year-old orange and white cutie with you. Ginger has been waiting patiently for the perfect forever home. He would love to have a home of his own. Ginger is extremely playful and smart- he loves playing with all kinds of toys! We believe he would be most successful in a home without young children, and he would also prefer to be the only cat in your household. Ginger is neutered, microchipped, up-to-date on vaccinations, and ready to meet you. To learn more about Ginger’s personality please visit atlantahumane.org/cats, and if you think he’s the guy for you, please fill out the pre-adoption application at atlantahumane.org/adoption-application! @atlantahumane
