NATIONAL DRUG TAKE BACK DAY October 24th
A good reminder that safe medicine disposal saves lives.
Mark your calendars!
National Prescription Drug Take Back Day is October 24. The event provides area residents with a safe way to dispose of medications that are out-of-date or no longer needed. King County has seen increases in the use and abuse of heroin and fentanyl. Often opioid misuse starts with using medicine leftover from friends or family members. At home, secure medicine storage (locking cabinet, lockbox, or lock bag) and safe disposal of unused and expired medicines can prevent misuse, overdose, and suicide.
If you can’t make it out to the national take back day, you don’t have to wait six months to safely dispose of unused and expired medicines. There are over 100 free and confidential drop box locations operating year-round and located at grocery stores, pharmacies, clinics, and other locations in the area. Visit MED-Project.org to find a drop box near you. To find more information about DEA’s National Take Back Day, visit takebackday.dea.gov.

Congratulations to Baby, the winner of our special employee pet edition of Pet of the Month! Baby is owned by Alex, one of our wonderful Client Service Coordinators. Here is a little more about Baby:
Baby was found on a dark night in winter crying at the back door. She immediately became family. Her kidney disease does not keep her from doing her favorite activities which include crying for food and sitting in front of anything important that her mother is doing.
Did you know that cats spend about 70% of their lives asleep? That's an average of 13-16 hours of sleep per day. Cat napping at its finest. Happy #caturday !
When your pet has an upcoming spa day, your groomer may ask you to make sure she is up-to-date on vaccines. That is easy to do when you have the MyVCA app on your phone. You can check when she'll next be due for vaccines and access other important healthcare information. Simply download the MyVCA app and have your pet's vaccine records at your fingertips.
Our team truly misses having our clients in the building. We love the relationships we build with people and their pets! While we are still doing curbside service, we thought it would be fun to play a game and reconnect with the community. Please tell us one interesting fact about you and one tidbit about your pet we might not know. We're all ears! 👂
A microchip is a small chip inserted under the skin that can be read by a scanner. The identification number is unique to each animal and can help track down their owner's information if they become lost. We highly recommend pets be microchipped. It could be their ticket home! If you have ever wondered about microchipping your pet, here is some great information from the American Veterinary Medical Association: https://www.avma.org/microchipping-animals-faq
