Dr. Knoblock's Charlie, Denise Serrecchia, and Arizona are hard at work this morning!
Veterinary practices across the country are experiencing longer than normal wait times to get an appointment. Here's an article by a veterinarian in Minnesota that explains why. Here at VCA Wakefield, we were already booking out a couple weeks before COVID thanks to outgrowing our current facility. Our capacity will increase and ease much of the backlog when we move in late September, and we thank you for your patience and kindness while we fit in as many stand-by appointments as we can safely see each day. https://bit.ly/311jcEq SOUTHWESTJOURNAL.COM Why is it so hard to get an appointment with your vet right now?

Our new hospital is really TWO hospitals, with dogs on one side and cats/exotic species on the other side. With two lobbies, 11 exam rooms, two treatment areas, and two surgery suites, we need a few more special people. We offer a flexible schedule, and some evening and weekend hours are required.

We know you’re so excited to go on some autumn nature walks with your dog, but for this #FallSafetyTip, make sure you watch out for snakes, some of which can be venomous! They’re preparing for hibernation and may be a little crankier if disturbed by a curious pet! 🐍 When walking or hiking, if something happens to your pet, be sure to contact your veterinarian as soon as possible. #VCApets
Today is Global Cat Day, a special occasion devoted to unowned, free-roaming “community” cats. These cats often get a bad rap but it’s important to understand that these cats aren’t so different from our beloved pets. As a matter of fact, many are living on the streets as a result of being abandoned by their families. We've included some tips to help manage and care for the community cats in your neighborhood. Helping these cats starts by being a responsible guardian! Spay/neuter your own cat and keep them indoors. * In just seven years, a single pair of cats and their offspring could produce a staggering total of 420,000 kittens! #VCApets
Please join us in celebrating our amazing technicians and assistants this National Veterinary Technician Week. While we try to thank them every day, we always have a few extra treats this week. If you've been touched by a veterinary technician, we hope you'll consider saying a kind word here. These photos from yesterday feature (1) Jazmin, Kristine, Daria, Jessi (rear), and Kelcie and (2) Disa, Rebecca, Shannon (with Tyson), Aislyn, Kaitlyn, Isa, and Kimberly.
Dr. Brent Couts is ready to brave the elements! We are open our regular hours today, and we anticipate opening on time tomorrow morning. It's always a good idea to call ahead or check our Facebook page if the weather outside is frightening. Our hardworking team received hats and scarves today as a small token of our appreciation while we continue curbside service.
Bellissimo was a little dehydrated at his visit today. He checked out the upper level for a while before deciding he'd rather hide inside one of our benches. Luckily, the bench cushions are removable so Dr. Kruse could give him some fluids in his preferred location. What a handsome boy! We are loving all the Fear Free™ features at our new Audubon Road location!
