Stressed? Don't worry...you're halfway through the week! Attack that stress aggressively and then take a nap. Handle it like a CHAMP!!
Happy Monday! Let's do this and crush this week!
YAY FRIDAY! This week is officially over! Time to kick back and relax!
Remo is getting the royal treatment in the form of a foot soak! Remo suffers allergies (just like we do!) and sometimes a foot soak helps his poor feet. It sure looks like he's enjoying himself! We're sure he thanked Kim and Rachael for helping him feel better!
This is great advice for these strange times!!
Happy Monday from Milo! He sure looks like he's feeling the Monday blues....which is probably why he's getting a hug. We feel you, buddy....hang in there!!
Meet Arvin! He's smart, he’s handsome, and he’s currently available for adoption at PAWS Chicago. Even though WE know how great he is, he’s just not confident in himself in new situations and needs a hand finding the perfect family. Arvin’s one of a handful of pets at PAWS Chicago looking for a special home! Each week, we’ll share an adoptable dog or cat who’s been a little overlooked but doesn’t deserve to be forgotten - because harder to home doesn’t mean harder to love. Arvin would love to find a family that: 🐶: Has a big, fenced yard in a quiet neighborhood. 🐶: Follows a regular routine. 🐶: Has no kids or kids 12+. 🐶: Has no pets or has a big, energetic dog that Arvin can play with! When you adopt through PAWS Chicago, you’ll receive a VCA Healthy Start Certificate, giving you a free visit with a veterinarian within 14 days of adoption and covering the cost of illness in the first two weeks of adoption (up to $500). That darn Monday always sneaks up on ya.....
We know you’re so excited to go on some autumn nature walks with your dog, but for this #FallSafetyTip, make sure you watch out for snakes, some of which can be venomous! They’re preparing for hibernation and may be a little crankier if disturbed by a curious pet! 🐍 When walking or hiking, if something happens to your pet, be sure to contact your veterinarian as soon as possible. #VCApets
Today is Global Cat Day, a special occasion devoted to unowned, free-roaming “community” cats. These cats often get a bad rap but it’s important to understand that these cats aren’t so different from our beloved pets. As a matter of fact, many are living on the streets as a result of being abandoned by their families. We've included some tips to help manage and care for the community cats in your neighborhood. Helping these cats starts by being a responsible guardian! Spay/neuter your own cat and keep them indoors. * In just seven years, a single pair of cats and their offspring could produce a staggering total of 420,000 kittens! #VCApets
Meet five-year-old Scout! We bet you can tell from her picture that she LOVES a good photoshoot. What you probably can’t tell, though, is that Scout’s having trouble finding a home. To her family at PAWS Chicago, she’s a perfect 10. Her former foster mom says “Scout was one of my favorite fosters and house guests!” We hear she’s even trained. But, despite everything she has going for her, she’s overlooked because of the specific home she needs. Don’t forget about Scout. If your family is kid- and pet-free with a Scout-shaped hole to fill, you might be her people! Learn more about her and the PAWS Chicago Virtual Adoption Process at bit.ly/2Iydgwh. Because PAWS is a VCA partner, you’ll receive a VCA Healthy Start Certificate, giving you a free visit with a veterinarian within 14 days of adoption and covering the cost of illness in the first two weeks of adoption (up to $500) when you adopt.
Roxanne is this week's PAWS Chicago underdog. Despite her adorable smile and repertoire of tricks, like sit and shake, this two-year-old Terrier/Bulldog mix hasn't had a whole lot of interest from adopters. Roxanne can be a bit intimidated around new people but one she feels safe, she'll gladly sit on your feet for hours of head scratches. PAWS Chicago knows it just takes the right person to stumble upon this post to find Roxanne's future family. If your home is adults-only, pet-free, and filled with experienced dog owners ready to help Roxanne feel comfortable and safe, that might be you! Meet her at https://bit.ly/3eLkqbZ or find all of PAWS Chicago's other adoptable animals on their website. As a VCA partner, PAWS provides all adopters a VCA Healthy Start Certificate, giving you a free visit with a veterinarian within 14 days of adoption and covering the cost of illness in the first two weeks of adoption (up to $500).
One look at Bruno’s big, golden eyes and goofy smile and you’ll fall in love. This one-year-old Hound mix is at PAWS Chicago, Chicago’s largest No Kill shelter, and he’s looking for a home. Like a lot of large adult dogs, Bruno needs help finding the right family. He’s a lovable underdog just waiting to shine in a house fit for this belly rub king and plenty of big pup playdates! You could just be Bruno’s people if your family: 🐶: Has experience owning a dog. 🐶: LOVES to play, run, or be active! 🐶: Is cat- and young kid- free but might have another large, playful pup to be Bruno’s best bud. 🐶: Has someone who’s regularly home to keep this big guy company. If that sounds like you, you can learn more about Bruno and PAWS Chicago’s virtual adoption process at bit.ly/2HXppdJ. When you adopt through PAWS Chicago, you’ll receive a VCA Healthy Start Certificate, giving you a free visit with a veterinarian within 14 days of adoption and covering the cost of illness in the first two weeks of adoption (up to $500). To our community and valued clients, I am sorry if our availability is limited at times. Please know that we want to care for as many pets as we possibly can. We have been short between two and ten team members due to illness or COVID exposure quarantine consistently since the pandemic began. Although we have added a new doctor and five other new members to our team, it is still sometimes a challenge to keep up with the demand for care. I worked over fourteen hours yesterday, which is not unusual for myself or most of the other doctors at our hospital. I wish there was a way for us to help even more pets. Our goal is to provide excellent care to as many pets and their families as we are physically able to do during these difficult times. Although rare, there are situations when the best option for critically ill pets is to go directly to a 24-hour emergency hospital for advanced care. Thankfully this is not common, and we are almost always able to provide routine and emergency care for our patients. We will continue to do everything we possibly can for you and your pets. Sincerely, Dr. Cory Loxtercamp and the team at VCA Worth Animal Hospital
