Michael Gioscia, MD, is a prestigious board-certified vascular surgeon and specialist providing top-notch care at Vein Institute of Westchester in two locations in West Harrison and White Plains, New York. Dr. Gioscia has almost three decades of experience treating all venous disorders.
Dr. Gioscia achieved his bachelor of science degree summa cum laude from St. John’s University in Queens, New York, where he was valedictorian of the College of Science.
In 1986, Dr. Gioscia received his medical degree from SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York, before finishing an internship at New York Hospital Medical Center of Queens. He completed his residency and fellowship at New York Medical College in Valhalla, New York, in 1992.
Dr. Gioscia specializes in vascular surgery and lymphatic and venous medicine. He uses the latest advanced laser technology and vein treatments.
Recognized for his hard work in medicine, Dr. Gioscia has won several awards, such as the Vitals Compassionate Doctor Award and the Vitals Patient Choice Award in 2018. He also received the Vitals Top Ten Doctor Neighborhood Award in 2014.
The American Medical Association (AMA) CPT Review Panel approved Dr. Gioscia to start a new procedure for varicose veins. Dr. Gioscia worked directly with a company in Belgium to modify and perfect the device and procedure.
Dr. Gioscia has treated multiple patients with a revolutionary new and improved, minimally invasive technique that he brought back to the United States. Dr. Gioscia will soon be training other professionals on how to implement the new device and procedure. He’s a founding member of the Institute for Minimally Invasive Surgery (IMIS), where he helped pioneer three-dimensional surgery — the predecessor to robotic-assisted DaVinci® surgery.
Dr. Gioscia is one of the first 243 physicians in the United States who became certified in phlebology (FACPh), the subspecialty for venous disorders.
When it comes to caring for the vascular system and the lower extremities, Dr. Gioscia has extensive experience and education. He’s fluent in Spanish and English and able to better communicate with a diverse group of patients.
