Its February 1st! Valentine's Day is just around the corner, and that means chocolates. As many of us love it, so can our dogs. However its toxic for them. If you have chocolate in the house keep it out of reach from your dog. If your dog happens to get into chocolate heres a few steps to help. We are gonna want the dog to vomit. However if you believe they ingested longer than a couple of hours ago or your dog already shows signs of being sick dont induce vomiting and call your vet. - grab hydrogen peroxide and a teaspoon - give 1 teaspoon per 10lbs of body weight - the max is 3 tablespoons for larger dogs - wait 5 minutes and if they dont vomit try 1 more dose - still not vomited contact your veterinarian We do recommend that even if they do vomit to still call your vet.
Know the difference! Here are the 2 most common worms we see. Round worms are small needle like worms sometimes seen in vomit. They pass their eggs through the stool of your pet. Tapeworm is a long white flat worm that breaks into segments when leaving the body. Often seen on the fur under the tail in a rice like form. Its uncommon but can also be seen whole in your pets vomit. If you see symptoms and/or the parasites contact your veterinarian for the next steps in your pet's care.
