Marvelous Melvin! This handsome guy came to see our board-certified dermatologist, Dr. Song, for his allergies. As you can see, he was just happy to spend some quality time with our awesome veterinary technician, Yulissa.
That face you make when you realize it's Friday! Banks is all smiles after his IBD treatment with our board-certified internist, Dr. Markovich. He has gained 4lbs since his last visit and is now back to being a crazy puppy at home! We love you Banks, keep on smiling!
Our board-certified internist, Dr. Bondy, recently performed a nasal flush on Marco, who suffers from chronic nasal congestion. During the procedure, abnormal tissue was found and biopsied. Marco felt so much better after having his stuffy nose flushed!
The bravery and sacrifice of the men, women, and K9 first responders in the search and rescue efforts of 9/11 will never be forgotten. Today we honor their legacy. https://bit.ly/3m7UbzR #neverforgotten AKC.ORG The Legacy of 9/11 Dogs 19 Years Later – American Kennel Club
Meet Chloe! She has been treated for skin disease and hemolytic anemia for the last 6 months. In a recent visit with our board-certified internist, Dr. Bailey, she passed all of her tests with flying colors and got to officially stop her medications!
To our clients: Thank you for your support while we work through these uncertain and stressful times together. We appreciate your patience as we’ve introduced new hospital protocols over the past few months. We are seeing an unprecedented volume of emergency cases and receiving a high volume of phone calls at our hospital. With the added stress of a global pandemic on everyone’s minds – we can assure you that our team feels the pressure too. Our team is caring for each pet that comes through our door, all while taking added precautions to keep you, your family, and their fellow co-workers safe. Without added safety precautions, we risk not being able to provide care for the pets in our community. To help better prepare you for emergency and specialty visits at this time, we’ve included a breakdown of our triage guidelines in the video below. We ask for your continued support, respect, and patience as we work to provide care for your pets. As always, if you have any questions please do not hesitate to reach out: 602-697-4694
This handsome guy is Scotch! He recently came in for a consult with our board-certified surgeon, Dr. Owen, to discuss his hip dysplasia. If your dog was diagnosed with hip dysplasia, one of the treatment options our team may recommend is a Total Hip Replacement (THR). To read more about THR, click here: https://bit.ly/306PLjt
It was a team effort for this successful Total Hip Replacement (THR)! A THR is performed to improve quality of life by providing pain relief, improving hip function and allowing the patient to return to an active lifestyle. Our board-certified surgeon, Dr. Liliana Mutascio, is all geared up and ready to take on the day! Our team wears this type of protective gear while performing more complex procedures that require radiation-based diagnostic equipment. In this case, Dr. Mutascio repaired a fracture in a kitten using fluoroscopy. To learn more about VetMED's advanced surgical capabilities, visit: https://bit.ly/3ct4SbU #selfiesaturday #vetmed
Mochi was the perfect patient for our board-certified veterinary internist, Dr. Janet Bailey! She was originally seen for severe pain and elevated kidney values. An abdominal ultrasound showed a kidney stone blocking urine from flowing from the kidney into the bladder. The stone was successfully removed at surgery, but analysis of the stone indicated that there was a problem with Mochi’s liver. Further tests confirmed the liver problem and Mochi is on a long-term treatment plan to support the liver & prevent more stones from forming. She comes back to see Dr. Bailey every 6 months.
This little ball of cuteness is Denali! She is a 16-week-old shepherd who saw Dr. Owen for an orthopedic exam. We couldn't get enough of that adorable face!
When cats are in our care we make every effort to ensure that they are as comfortable & relaxed as possible while they are hospitalized! 😺Manticore has a cozy bed inside a cardboard box so he has privacy but can still see what’s happening around him. 😺Romeo is happy lounging on a pile of bedding like a prince. 😺Jemma is a scaredy-cat, and she prefers to hide. She has a bed that covers her so she feels secure, and she is eating and drinking under her cover. 😺Patches is happy to have any and all attention, so he sits at his kennel door talking to everyone who passes, asking for attention. Rest assured, if your kitty needs to stay with us, we will do our best to keep them comfortable & relaxed!
This sweet puppy is a rescue from May Day Pit Bull Rescue. We recently performed a balloon valvuloplasty for pulmonic stenosis. She was found with severe burns on her sides so the rescue took her in and her foster family tended to her burns. Once her skin healed, she was able to have her life-saving procedure. Everyone loves her and she made us all really happy!

Leo recently came back for a recheck appointment with Dr. Matthews of our Cardiology department for his mitral valve disease. Good news is, his condition is stable! He also sees our Internal Medicine department for airway disease and elevated liver enzymes. No matter the condition, Leo always visits us with a big smile on his face!

Meet our featured surgery patient, Rudder! Rudder is a young Golden Retriever who was diagnosed with severe bilateral hip dysplasia and osteoarthritis before he reached his first birthday. At this young age, Rudder was experiencing clinical signs that were significantly affecting his quality of life. Rudder's pain and discomfort in his hips made it difficult for him to stand up, and he had a hard time getting comfortable at night. Rudder would fatigue quickly with activity and would drag the left hind paw after activity. Rudder underwent a left total hip replacement in August 2020. He recovered quickly and was bearing more weight on the operated limb within weeks. Rudder underwent total hip replacement for the right hip in December 2020. Rudder is now on his way to a pain-free and fully functional life with two shiny new hips!

Thanks Shawn! We think you're pretty awesome too! #testimonialtuesday
Meet our featured Cardiology patient, Lil' Doo! Lil' Doo is a 3-month-old Shih Tzu who recently had a balloon valvuloplasty for treatment of her pulmonic stenosis. Pulmonic stenosis is a congenital heart defect of the valve between the right ventricle and the pulmonary artery (the great vessel that takes blood to the lungs). The leaflets of this valve are thickened and/or partially fused together, causing the patient to have very mild to severe obstruction to blood flow from the heart to the lungs. In these cases, our cardiology team performs a minimally-invasive balloon valvuloplasty in which a balloon catheter is placed across the stenotic pulmonic valve. The balloon is inflated to untether the valve leaflets, creating a larger opening and allowing blood to flow more easily from the heart to the lungs. Don't worry—Lil' Doo is doing just fine. As you can see, we couldn't get enough of that adorable face! To learn more about the other services our cardiology team performs, click here: https://bit.ly/3aOlFWw

Meet our featured cardiology patient, Joe! This happy, senior boy is one of our patients being managed for Dilated Cardiomyopathy (DCM). DCM is a condition where the heart muscle (myocardium) loses its ability to contract normally and as effectively. Unfortunately, this condition is rarely reversible, and pets that have it usually have it for life. He came in recently for his recheck and we're happy to report that his measurements have improved! Way to go, Joe!
