Dr. Victor Chiu is a hematologist and medical oncologist at UCLA Health Burbank and at UCLA-Olive View Medical Center. He has worked with a diverse patient population his entire career and understands the importance of creating a personalized care plan for each patient, which may include clinical trials participation. While he has a clinical interest in gastrointestinal cancers, he is a generalist who treats patients with all types of cancer and blood disorders.
Dr. Chiu completed medical school at University of California, Davis where he was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society. He went on to complete internal medicine residency at UCLA-Olive View Medical Center (UCLA-OVMC), where he won the award for most outstanding resident in each year of training and was chosen to serve as Chief Resident. He remained in Los Angeles to complete hematology and oncology fellowship at LAC-USC and USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center, where he also served as Chief Fellow and Phase I Clinical Trial Fellow. He received his undergraduate degree in Public Health and Immunology from University of California, Berkeley.
Dr. Chiu has published research in the fields of health care disparities, thromboembolic disorders and anticoagulation, aplastic anemia, and other bone marrow failure disorders. He is the Director of Oncology Research at UCLA-OVMC, with a focus of expanding clinical trial access to underrepresented patient populations. He is dedicated to training the next generation of oncologists at UCLA-OVMC, where he serves as a clinical instructor.
Dr. Chiu is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the American Society of Hematology. Outside of work, he enjoys playing basketball with his son, going to the beach with his daughter, and trying new recipes with his wife.
