Dr Brito and the staff of Village Veterinary Hospital would like to express our condolences to Dr Rickard’s family and the entire staff and community at Chase Farm Veterinary Hospital. Our small community has lost an important member. Dr. Jacqueline Brito had the great pleasure of learning from Dr. Rickard when she was still in high school and this experience helped to propel Dr. Brito along her path to becoming a veterinarian herself. We are all working together to support each other during this difficult time, so let us join as one community to mourn the loss of a very special person. Chase Farm Veterinary Hospital 11 April at 17:38 · Dear Chase Farm Community, I write you today with a heavy heart. It is with deep sadness I inform you that Dr. Nicole Rickard passed away unexpectedly on Thursday April 9, 2020 at home. For many of us, myself included, this a significant loss to our Chase Farm family, in an already fearful time. Dr. Rickard joined our team in 1998. As a Senior Veterinary Associate, she provided extraordinary care for thousands of patients and their families over her twenty-two-year career. She was more than just a phenomenal veterinarian. Dr. Rickard was a compassionate friend, a selfless care-giver, and a loving wife & mother. Our community will be forever changed by her presence in our lives. The world has lost an exceptional person. Her life will forever have an impact on our own lives. May we, who were so lucky to know Nicole, honor her life, devotion to her community, and memories in the ways we choose to show up every day. We know many of you have been privileged to be cared for by Dr. Rickard. Messages of condolence for Dr. Rickard’s family may be sent to our office and addressed as follows: Chase Farm Veterinary Hospital In memory of Dr. Rickard 35 Ventura Drive Dartmouth, MA 02748 In lieu of flowers, opportunities for donations and memorial gifts will be forth coming. In my own Christian tradition, we are entering the season of Easter. My hope and prayer for all of us is that we live into the promise that life is changed and not ended. With Sympathy and Love, Dr. Jean Pitcairn http://www.cfvh.com/dr-rickard-memorial/
Village Veterinary Hospital Inc 24 March at 20:27 · Hey Everyone, We know there are a lot of things occurring right now but we wanted to remind everyone that we are doing a remodel this week!! We will reopen for appointments on Thursday March 26th. At that time we will be continuing our current closed door policy, so please give us a call when you arrive so we can plan accordingly. For everyone’s continued safety we will be bringing only patients into the hospital moving forward. So please have your animal safely restrained with an appropriate carrier or leash/collar to ease our ability to bring them into and out of our building. We appreciate your understanding as we try to make all efforts to keep everyone safe. We can be reached at 800-992-0871, and messages will be returned even during our remodel 😀

Hi everyone, Due to the risks of COVID-19, we are instituting a few policy changes to increase the overall safety and lessen the risk of exposure of our clients and staff. First we ask anyone who does not feel well to cancel his/her appointment. There will be no fees associated with cancelations for this reason. We also ask that when arriving for an appointment, you please stay in your car, and call our office at 508-642-1212 to alert us that you have arrived. Please provide us with the make and model of your car during the phone conversation so that we may meet you at your car and escort you and your animal directly to an exam room. As always disinfection protocols will be strictly followed to keep everyone safe. If you have any further questions regarding your concerns about coming in for an appointment please give us a call at 800-992-0871. Thank you everyone for your patience and understanding during this difficult time. Thank you, Dr Brito and Staff PS Puppy picture just to make you this un-fun message a little better
Happy National Horse Day! Post a photo of your favorite horse.
With the holiday season comes a delightful variety of baked goods, chocolate confections and other rich, fattening foods. However, it is not wise (and in some cases is quite dangerous) to share these treats with your pets. Keep your pet on his or her regular diet over the holidays and do not let family and friends sneak in treats. Foods that can present problems: -Foods containing grapes, raisins and currants (such as fruitcakes) can result in kidney failure in dogs. -Chocolate and cocoa contain theobromine, a chemical highly toxic to dogs and cats. Ingestion in small amounts can cause vomiting and diarrhea but large amounts can cause seizures and heart arrhythmias. -Many sugarless gums and candies contain xylitol, a sweetener which is toxic to dogs. It causes a life-threatening drop in blood sugar and liver failure. -Leftover, fatty meat scraps can produce severe inflammation of the pancreas (pancreatitis) leading to abdominal pain, vomiting and bloody diarrhea.
We know everyone is working more from home and is getting to spend more time with their animals, but all that extra time means you notice those pesky pet odors. Our fantastic line of candles, room sprays, and fabric deodorizer work great to remove those odors and make everything smell fresh and clean!!! We are still only offering curbside service, but we are happy to offer any of these products if you are interested!! Just let us know!!! We can even provide a list of available scents!!! Candles are $10 for one, or $15 for two!!!! Room sprays are $7.50, and Fabric refreshers are $15!!!!!
