MISSING PERSON UPDATE: St. Johns County resident Walter Williams has been located. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.
Original Post:
MISSING BOATER: This past Wedneday, St. Johns County resident, Walter Williams, was reported missing following a vessel crash into the Buckman Bridge. Mr. Williams was reportedly returning home after having the vessel serviced. Since that time, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission (FWC), Jacksonville Sheriff's Office (JSO), along with members of our marine and air unit, have conducted search operations in the area. Unfortunately, Mr. Williams has not yet been located.
Given the swift currents and dynamics surrounding the crash, boaters and residents along the St. Johns River are asked to be watchful for anything that may be linked to the search. Mr. Williams was last seen wearing khaki pants and a white and brown plaid shirt (similiar to the one pictured below).
Anyone who may have information related to the crash or observes anything that may assist in the location of Mr. Williams, is asked to call FWC's hotline at 1-888-404-3922 or the nearest local law enforcement agency.
