❓How do I evaluate a plugin for use on my WordPress websites?
A client emailed me today asking if I knew about a particular WordPress plugin and what my opinion about it was. I thought my process might be useful for anyone building WordPress websites for themselves or for clients, so here it is.
1️⃣ Go to WordPress.org and search for the plugin.
✅ Check "Last updated"—current is better.
✅ Check the number of "Active installations"—the higher the better.
✅ Check "Tested up to"—you want the most current version of WordPress here, which is 5.4.2 as of writing
✅ Check "Ratings"—anything less that 4.5 stars and make sure to read the "Reviews" tab in detail.
✅ Check the 'Installation" tab—make sure there are robust instructions.
✅ Check the "Support" tab—make sure questions are being answered.
2️⃣ Google "plugin name + the theme name" to see if there is:
✅ documentation online about any special considerations
✅any known issues
✅bonus points if the plugin website mentions your theme specifically
✅any compatibility issues

Still think Hashtags shouldn't be used on Facebook? That Facebook diminishes your visibility and reach if you use them? Think again.
As is the way of many things, Facebook evolves yet again! Seen when creating a posting today. 👇 Use them. 🤓 Facebook is actively encouraging hashtag use!

And as with ALL marketing (of which social media is a part of), test, test and TEST to see how and if they work for you! Just don't be spammy—I still recommend no more than 3 hashtags a post. Until Facebook drastically updates their model again, that is. 😂
