Visiting Angels’ specializes in providing caring non-medical, personal care services to seniors and other adults so they can continue to live at home in familiar surroundings, while receiving the assistance they need to do so SAFELY.
Visiting Angels goes to great lengths to individualize its care to each client through our “Matching Process”. We first assess our client’s physical and emotional needs, as well as their personality and family situation. Our Care Management Team then uses this detailed information to select which of our home care employee(s) we believe would be a “good fit” with our client.
Our “Matching Process” is so successful thanks in great part to our extremely thorough “Hiring Process” which Visiting Angels developed and, which we believe, far exceeds the level of scrutiny in other homecare companies’ hiring practices.
At Visiting Angels:
• Each of our potential “Angels” is hand-picked from a large number of job applicants. Our Human Resources Manager interviews each individually over the phone and only those who (i) are NJ-Licensed Home Health Aides or Nursing Assistants in good-standing; (ii) have kind and positive dispositions; and (ii) have good English-language speaking skills are invited to attend our full-day two-part Learning Session at our Lawrenceville Office.
• During the first part of our Learning Session, Visiting Angels’ entire Care Management Team and both its Co-Owners personally interview each candidate and further screen out anyone we believe does not meet Visiting Angels’ high standards. Only those who have passed muster with our entire Team are invited to move on to the second-part of the Learning Session.
• Those who make it through our full-day Learning Session then undergo a thorough and comprehensive county, state and nationwide criminal background check. Much to our surprise some home care companies do not conduct their “own” background checks but instead rely on the limited background checks performed by the State when an aide is first licensed.
• Only those with a “spotless” background report are eligible to become a “Visiting Angel”. Our experience is that many other home care companies will hire candidates with criminal records, provided the offense (i) was not serious; and (ii) occurred a long time ago. Visiting Angels takes no chances when it comes to the care of our clients. Therefore, we do not hire anyone with ANY prior criminal record...no matter how minor the infraction or how long ago it occurred.
Our Hiring Process gives Visiting Angels a greater understanding of each of our home care employees’ experience level, personality traits and work preferences. This knowledge is critical when working to match each Visiting Angels’ client with the home care “Angel” we believe will be a “good fit” for them.
Visiting Angels’ Veterans Program
Visiting Angels’ unique “Veterans Program” enables “Qualifying Veterans” and their surviving spouses to receive Visiting Angels’ home care services quickly and with no out-of-pocket expense.
Definition of “Qualifying Veterans”: (i) War-time veterans (ii) who do not exceed the low income and savings limits set by the U.S. Dept. of Veteran Affairs.
