October is Physical Therapy Month! PT plays an important role in recovery for many of our patients. Our Physical Therapists teach patients exercises in their home to help promote strength, balance, and flexibility.
Falls are the leading cause of fatal and non-fatal injuries for older Americans. Here are some tips for Falls Prevention Awareness Week to help keep you and your loved ones safe.
This week is Falls Prevention Awareness Week. Unfortunately, falls are very common and can be especially detrimental for older adults. You can help protect yourself and your loved ones from falls by having good lighting throughout the house, having secure rails on all stairs, and by installing grab bars in the tub/shower and near the toilet.

In 1969, Lyn Rothwell led the efforts of a group of community leaders to found Douglas County Visiting Nurses Association to provide home health care in Douglas County. Thanks to Lyn and those who supported and assisted her, VNA opened an office in an unfinished basement on February 2, 1969. In the 52 years since, VNA has faced and overcome many challenges to continue to care for patients in their homes. Thank you for trusting us to care for your loved ones and for all of the support you have provided us over the years! We are so proud to be a part of such a wonderful community.
Here is something fun for your Friday! Marcia and George Taylor, a patient of VNA's Home Health program and her husband, shared some kind words about VNA and their lovely musical talents with us this week to help spread some joy. Take a few minutes and enjoy their lovely rendition of the song "Home."
We have a special treat for you this week! A patient of ours and her husband shared their wonderful musical talents with us and we want to share that joy with you! We'll post a song they sang for us later this week, but here is something fun to hold you over until then.
