Welcome
The Voice Institute of New York is one of the World’s premiere voice treatment centers, providing medical services for people with voice disorders and diseases of the larynx (voice box) and throat. Specialized treatments are available for people with vocal misuse and overuse syndromes, recurrent laryngitis, spasmodic dysphonia, vocal cord paralysis, the aging voice, cancer of the vocal cord, scarred vocal cords, and benign vocal cord growths, such as nodules, polyps, cysts, granulomas, and papillomas.
The Koufman Reflux Center of New York, a subdivision of the Voice Institute, is a leader in the field of acid reflux, especially silent (airway) reflux, aka laryngopharyngeal reflux (LPR). Actually, Dr. Koufman coined the terms LPR, silent reflux, and airway reflux.
Dr. Jamie Koufman has been a leading clinician and researcher in the fields of laryngology, acid reflux, and the voice for more than 25 years. Dr. Koufman has been listed as one of “America’s Top Doctors” every year since 1994. Dr. Koufman is one of the nation’s most experienced clinicians at diagnosing and treating voice disorders (laryngitis and hoarseness), having specialized since 1981. She is also one of the world’s leading experts on reflux, and the diagnostic technology for reflux testing at the Reflux Center is well ahead of the state of the art!
The Reflux Center and Voice Institute of New York are uniquely qualified to evaluate and treat patients with reflux and voice disorders, because at present there is fragmentation of services both nationally and within the city of New York. The Center and the Instituteprovide all of the most advanced cutting-edge diagnostics (including reflux testing and transnasal esophagoscopy) and treatments (including minimally-invasive, office-based, laryngeal laser surgery), all under one roof.
