"I had dozens of life-altering experiences while in treatment. I learned that I was not a bad or broken individual. I was just a normal guy who had made a series of bad choices. Those choices put me into situations that I could not get myself out of alone. I learned that there were many people out there who were struggling with substance abuse issues, just like me. Many of these individuals had beaten their addictions and were living great lives. I learned that I didn’t have to fight my demons alone. There was help available and people willing to walk the path of recovery with me." - Wasatch Crest's Program Director, Marc Turner
Marc shared his complete recovery story on our blog. Read about how he used adversity to find himself as a person in recovery, here: bit.ly/3kHJdzp
There are few things more helpful and important than the love and support of family. When families unite, they can help fight addiction together as a team! Recovery Warrior Stories With Marty deLannoy
Wasatch Crest's Director of Utilization Review, Lindsay Fenton, CMHC, discusses strategies for efficiently securing insurance coverage for clients' substance abuse treatment.
Addiction can be successfully treated. Relapse does not mean treatment has failed; as counterproductive as it may seem, relapse can be part of the process of recovery. Go easy on yourself, don’t give up, and we will work together to help you get on the path to lasting recovery. #relapse #addiction
Getting sober frees up more time for meaningful activities. If you’re not sure how you should spend that time, try thinking about:
-Past Interests: What activities did you engage in before you started using? What did you like to do when you were younger? How can you nourish your “inner child?”
-Current Interests: How do you like to spend your free time now? How can you make those activities conducive to a recovery lifestyle?
-Future Interests: What are some things that you’ve always wanted to try? What activities push you out of your comfort zone and cultivate growth?
Wasatch Crest's Director of Recreational Therapy, Adelinn Cook, TRS, CTRS, shares more ways to explore leisure interests in recovery. Check out the rest of her blog here: bit.ly/304TJZJ
"Deciding that I’d had enough of my harmful lifestyle, I committed to doing whatever it took to stay sober and be fully active in my recovery. I couldn’t, and still can’t, get regrets from my past lifestyle out of my mind. Thank God, because they were a catalyst for my recovery and continue to remind me to never make the same mistakes again...
...When I was released from jail, everything that I owned fit inside a grocery bag. I’ve literally climbed up from the bottom — emotionally, spiritually, and mentally. I’m far from perfect, but I’ve made steady progress. I continue to work my recovery steps daily and implement recovery principles in all of my affairs. I’m aware that recovery is a lifelong journey, and I’m very grateful to be on it." - Wasatch Crest Recovery Advocate, Brady Warner
Brady shared his entire recovery story on our blog. Read about how he found joy in sobriety, here: bit.ly/3iY4J2A

When you’re newly sober, it’s important to keep your body hydrated to ease the severity of detox symptoms. It’s recommended you drink between 11-15 cups a day, and turn to smoothies or soups if you struggle to meet your daily water intake requirements. #hydration #recoverytips
At Wasatch Crest, clients are able to live in a non-threatening environment while trying to work out a variety of challenges that are representative of the problems they face in early recovery and regular life. The non-threatening environment is key – this allows them to drop their guard and show their true colors – both strengths and weaknesses – which are normally hidden in other therapeutic settings. Regular, repeated use of illegal drugs can actually alter the way the brain works and change the entire course of your future. Drug addiction doesn’t just affect the life of the addict, but also those who care for them. At our heroin rehab facility, we help those who battle an addiction to this highly addictive drug. We want to see all of our patients have a successful future free of dependence on illegal chemicals. https://bit.ly/33IZrAr

Twelve-step integration is an active engagement strategy designed to increase the likelihood of an individual becoming affiliated with and actively involved in 12-step self-help groups. Many health professionals, researchers, law enforcement and mental health agencies recognize that the 12 steps play an important role in recovery and that integrating them with other treatments creates a successful foundation on which to build long-lasting recovery. https://bit.ly/2N4sRmi
