Gonzalo Laje, MD, is a compassionate and experienced psychiatrist who is board-certified in adult and child/adolescent psychiatry. As the founder of Washington Behavioral Medicine Associates, LLC, in Chevy Chase, Maryland, he leads a team of mental health professionals who are committed to helping patients lead healthy and fulfilling lives.
Dr. Laje earned his medical degree at the University of Buenos Aires in Argentina. He then moved to the United States to complete his medical training with an internship and residency at Bellevue Hospital in New York City. Dr. Laje completed an additional residency as well as a rigorous fellowship program at the renowned National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) in Washington, DC. Dr. Laje also completed a Master of Health Sciences in clinical research at Duke University, in Durham, North Carolina.
Dr. Laje is a member of the American Psychiatric Association and the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. He also sits on several boards, including the Scientific Advisory Board of Madison House Autism Foundation.
Throughout his years of training and practice, he has participated in clinical research projects on pharmacogenetics and pharmacological interventions to address behavioral and emotional difficulties. He has also authored and co-authored articles in multiple peer-reviewed psychiatric and genetics journals.
