*Veterinary Technician Spotlight* Mercedes- Veterinary Technician Mercedes was born and raised in Alaska. She knew she wanted to be a part of the veterinary medical field when she was just eight years old. She went to school at Matsu College and completed her certificate for veterinary assisting in 2018. That same year, she joined our team here at Wasilla Veterinary Clinic. She aspires to become an Licensed Veterinary Technician in the near future. On her days off, she enjoys hiking, kayaking, fishing, and enjoying the beauty of her home state. She also enjoys spending time at home with her two dogs (Jake and Macey) and her two cats (Marco and Polo).
*Veterinary Technician Spotlight* Jill- Licensed Veterinary Technician Jill moved to Alaska in 2003 from Chicago and never looked back. Jill has been working in the veterinary field since 1994 and became a licensed technician after she moved to Alaska. Her special interests are behavior and nutrition. Jill likes to spend her free time training, showing and sledding with her Siberian Huskies.
*Veterinary Technician Spotlight* Cheyenne - Veterinary Technician Cheyenne joined our team in the fall of 2015. She was born in Oregon, but raised in Anchorage, Alaska. After graduating from Service high, she got a job as a kennel technician in Anchorage. She decided to get out of the city and move to the Mat- Su Valley and start a new chapter. Cheyenne is currently deciding to continue her education and become a certified Technician. Her hobbies vary from camping, snow machining and hiking, to reading and listening/dancing to music. When Cheyenne isn’t working, she enjoys life with her family, friends, and much loved Golden Retriever, Toby Keith.
*Veterinary Technician Spotlight * Billy - Technician and Associate Manager Billy began his career in veterinary medicine in 1992. He found his love for the profession after owning his first Akita. Getting to know Dr Wiskin: Medical tip from Dr. Wiskin as we start getting into the colder months. While pets may enjoy the winter weather it is important to limit their time outside to prevent hypothermia. πŸ₯Ά Check the paws to ensure that there are no cracks or bleeding.🐾 Be sure to check and that their paws are clear of salt or dirt that could cause infection. Dogs or cats with long fur can accumulate snow and icy build up. You can trim the hair around these areas to help with accumulation but take care not to trim it too much because your pet needs their coat to help keep them safe and warm. You can also use booties and jackets to help keep your pets warm during the cold months while still enjoying your time outdoors. Be safe and stay warm!!!!
😻 🐈 Today is National Cat Day 🐈 😻 😺 We hope they have the PURRfect day 😺 ❀ Show us your furry friends in the comments below ❀

This is River. He came in for his first vet visit last week and loved everyone. 😍 Can anyone guess this unique breed?
It's not always work and no play here at the clinic. We strive to make visits interactive and as stress free as possible, more now than ever. Pet's typically cue us on what their likes are, whether its food or play and we try to incorporate that into their visits. This helps create a less stressful environment for your pet. These 2 thought that playing tag with Technician Mercedes hand was the beez neez.
It's always a great day when we are visited by Ms. Mabel's crew of Sphynx sweetness ❀ Check out the captions on each picture for fun details on kitten exams ;)
