"I lost my mother when I was seventeen. She gave me two pieces of wisdom to live by: be a lady, and be independent."
Ruth Bader Ginsburg is one of the few justices in our nation's history who would have been famous without service on the Supreme Court. Her legal career was devoted to expanding rights for women at a time when laws were astonishingly slanted against her. As general counsel for the Women's Rights Project in the 1970s, she litigated hundreds of cases aimed at striking down discriminatory laws one by one, and before the US Supreme Court, she won five of the six cases she argued.
"I became a lawyer when women were not wanted by the legal profession." Ruth Bader Ginsburg did not enter the legal profession--then very unwelcoming to women--for riches or fame, she entered it because she believed in fighting for a just cause. She spent her entire career serving others, and much like Thurgood Marshall's place in the history of civil rights, to the extent that state and federal laws honor gender equality and equal protection much more than when she began her career, she is chiefly responsible.
Ginsberg believed the law served us best when it opens doors instead of closing them, and when it honors the opened hand and not the closed fist. She was both a student and maker of history, a patriot, and a great American. She was brilliant, was larger than her position, and while she was a giant in our profession, she was greater than that: she was a giant of history. People's lives are better for her service and her efforts, and that is a legacy that will last forever.

If you havent yet received your ballot by mail or havent mailed it back already, take it to your local Board of Elections. It is too late to mail--many counties have a drop off outside. You can deliver your mail in balllot to the drop off in Pitt and Beaufort County without going inside. NC is at 71.5% of all votes cast in 2016. Keep pounding and let NO ONE steal your right to vote! 💪🏾🙏🏾

Please pass along to someone who may need to grab a hot meal. We will be practicing social distancing and will have volunteers bring their trays to their vehicles or just walk up and grab one and roll! #OURBOTTOMLINEISYOU #stopthestigma There is NO cost associated with grabbing a plate. The only requirement is an appetite.

Excited and honored to share with the #BelovedCommunity at Beaufort County Community College's Third Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration, which will be streamed online. Thank you, Dr. Loope and the BCCC Board of Trustees for the invitation.
As we prepare for a new year, join us in support of an incredibly needed organization literally saving the lives of girls and young women in Eastern North Carolina. Daughters of Worth and Liz Liles is eliminating sex trafficking, physical and sexual abuse, and teen suicide one girl at a time! Please join us and donate!
During this season of giving, we are mindful of the dificulty this year has brought to many. We are also grateful for the support of our clients and community. As much as we strive to be a go to resource for our clients' legal problems, we want to be an asset and blessing to our community year round and especially during this season. So we're masked up and making deliveries today of some essential items in support of the community that continues to support us. We are grateful and blessed to be a blessing.

I have had several tests and was shocked that this one isnt painful AT ALL. The test used doesnt go far up your nose. So take this opportunity to know your status.
TESTING IS FREE UNTIL 5 pm--NO WAIT & PAIN-FREE!
