Today is World Suicide Prevention Day and sadly, this is an issue that has become particularly prevalent in the veterinary community. In fact, the rate of suicide in the veterinary profession has been pegged as close to twice that of the dental profession, more than twice that of the medical profession, and 4 times the rate in the general population. But, help and hope are out there. If you feel that someone you know is struggling with depression or another mental health issue, reach out, talk about it, and know what resources are available for support. New Winter COVID-19 Protocols Coming Soon
Did you know that pets can be blood donors just like humans? Pictured here is Louie, who is the fur kid to Stephanie, one of our CVTs on staff, who is participating as a blood donor through WVRC (Wisconsin Veterinary Referral Center).
Louie is a part of a two year program and will be giving blood every 8 weeks. There are many perks to the program, but the most important - helping save the lives of pets in the community!

Nikita, the Bull Terrier puppy, had her first visit with us tonight! How cute is that face?!
We're so excited to announce that we will again be hosting our popular Pet Pictures with Santa this year on Saturday, December 5 from 9am - Noon. Pictures are by appointment only and will be taken at the East Tosa Veterinary Clinic at 6228 State Street. Cost is $10 per pet/family with all proceeds benefiting our Helping Paws Fund, which helps pets whose families are facing financial hardships.
A couple of changes this year due to COVID-19:
-Only pets will be allowed into the building.
-Santa & his helpers will be wearing masks.
-Payment must be made by phone when registering. No payments will be accepted the day of pictures. Sorry, no refunds.
-Open to Wauwatosa Vet clients only.
-Digital pictures will be emailed to you by December 11.
We know that a lot of you look forward to a full family photo with your pet and we are disappointed that we can't accommodate that this year, but hopefully in 2021 we'll be able to back to normal again!

Today is a very special day here at Wauwatosa and East Tosa Vet - it's Mary K's 30th Anniversary! Mary started out as a receptionist and worked her up to her current role as the Lead Surgical Technician.
Mary’s favorite part about her job is working with surgery patients. When she’s not at work she enjoys spending time with her family, dog Fenway, watching baseball and crafting!
We are so lucky to have Mary on our team and for all of the hard work that she has put in over the past 30 years. Happy Work-iversary, Mary!
