You can get your Miles for Hope in at the gym too! Here are Joe and Beckie getting some activity in at their local gym. Why is NCMEC so important to webSURGE and why do we support them? Beckie and Joe share their insights: "First off you may not even know too much of what NCMEC does. We really had no idea until Elizabeth Arthur, MD invited us to join Helendale Dermatology and Medical Spa staff and friends at a Dish it Out Event in Rochester. This is an annual gala that raises awareness and funds for National Center for Missing & Exploited Children. Prior to going to this event, we only knew a little bit about the center. By the time we left that evening, our hearts were aching even more for the victims and their families and quite frankly, we felt angry and wanted to do something to help in any way we could to get these predators caught and put into prison. Joe felt the same, and he very quickly responded not only with monetary donations, but also took on NCMEC's website development and digital marketing, and involved our webSURGE team as a company-wide charity. Joe is an advisory board member and serves the organization actively to this day. Our team not only works with the New York region, but supports the National Center with specialized web-application development to help make kids safe. So, what does NCMEC do? They work with families, victims, private industry, law enforcement, and the public to assist with preventing child abductions, recovering missing children, and providing services to deter and combat child sexual exploitation. Keeping our kids safe is a real issue that isn't talked about enough and gets our blood boiling, so we try to participate as much as possible in supporting NCMEC. We need them more than ever to tackle such big issues in keeping our kids safe from predators online and offline. The center is constantly working to collect data, publishing research, helping law enforcement, providing materials for parents, supporting policies, and fighting harder than ever to save missing and exploited children. Sometimes you hear about companies that get upset when Google “steals” their info and displays it on the search engine (aka “Featured Snippet”). It is true that Google will scrape information from your website and display it right on the results page, preventing traffic from arriving at your site – but they are doing this for the sake of the user. It’s because Google is really an Answer Engine. It’s their job to give the best answer to their users, and fast. So if something like a song lyric, weather stat, stock price or definition can be easily seen without navigating to a (slow, advertising-laden, spammy) website, all the better for us, the users. If someone wants to know what Accelerated Inbound Marketing is, and Google chooses to put our definition up, then so be it. True, we might see less Traffic for this page and others. But the same people will eventually come to our site if we give enough value to them. So, this is really just an issue if you’re worried about “traffic,” and not people. And that’s a whole other topic.

For the foreseeable future, trade shows as we once knew them, are dead. Plus, selling in-person is limited at best these days. Now what? 🤷 With the right pivot strategy, you can still fill your pipeline with qualified leads--and even faster than when trade shows were still a “thing”. Rather than waiting for prospects to approach you, a combination of targeted advertising and direct contact gets you in front of the right people, at the right place, at the right time. You increase the probability of starting a conversation with your ideal customers, in a manner similar to how you follow-up after your trade show meetings. Simple, but incredibly effective when it’s done right.

What’s it feel like to work with real, genuine photography, instead of stock photos? As a marketer, it’s amazing! Ads and web pages always engage and convert better with authentic photography, because anyone can call out a cheesy stock photo pretty quickly. We’re lucky that our co-founder is quite skilled and enjoys any opportunity she has to unleash her Canon 5D Mark IV to create images for us! Sometimes she gets real geeky and explains aperture and shutter speed for capturing some of the sparks or coolant from machinery when capturing photos for our manufacturing clients. Or she often tells us about some beautiful new or old buildings she visited in the city of Rochester for other clients.
