We lost our dear Alex today. Here are lovely words from a long time customer and friend. 💔 Anthony Saddic 18 September at 18:26 · I'd be willing to bet that Alaa Hanafy Attia has touched the lives of a majority of the people who I'm friends with on here, even if only in a small way. When I think of "Alex," I think of him playfully teaching my sister Michelle, who we call "Meeshy" that the Arabic word for peach is more-or-less "meesh-meesh." I think of him treating my VERY LARGE family AND extended family to dinner at his diner, the West Chester Diner, after my Situ died. I think of the grace, elegance, and humility with which he spoke to my dad after 9/11, who was very emotional and likely said some hurtful things, and yet they remained friends for years to come. Of course, with most people like Alex, the main thing I think of is his smile and warmth. I hope, some day, people will say I left as much of an impression with just a smile and a warm greeting as he did. I didn't know him real well as I became an adult, but Alex was a pillar of my childhood, and a pillar of the West Chester community.
