At Wilde Kingdom Early Learning Center, we are kicking off Fall with popcorn, campfires, scarecrows, owls, changing colors, and sunflowers! Our children love to celebrate the changing seasons!
It’s wondering Wednesday! Do you ever wonder how children learn through a play-based philosophy? Our lesson plans are aligned with the five domains of Ohio’s Early Learning Standards because we believe learning through play is the best way to prepare children for kindergarten!
The Tiger Room is learning about the parts of a pumpkin!
What do you think? Did he really like it? Sensory Exploration!
I’m not afraid! Sensory Experience!
Ever wondered how your child might respond to this new sensory experience? 😂🧡🤎
The Reptile Room explores pumpkins!
At Wilde Kingdom ELC, we utilize Creative Curriculum for aligning our curriculum with the Ohio Early Learning Standards. In our preschool classrooms, we feature studies, hands-on, project-based investigations of topics that are relevant to children’s everyday experiences. Studies are exciting and engaging. These topics tap into children’s natural curiosity, resulting in a learning environment that is both fun and intentional! Check out our Reptile preschool classroom and their current study on trees. The topic of trees is incorporated throughout the classroom and in math, reading, science, art, sensory, social emotional development and the outdoors. We learn through play which is the best way!

Reminder! Wilde Kingdom Early Learning Center will be closed Friday for our annual in-service day. Wilde Kingdom ELC has two annual in-service days per year. This year our teachers have a broad range of workshops to choose from! We are excited for our school to grow and make connections that help us become more effective in our profession. Here are just a few examples of topics we can learn about in this three-day-long conference.

Wilde Kingdom ELC would like to say Thank You to all the veterans of the armed services!
WKELC would like to wish Ms. Jayna, Lead Pre-K Teacher a very happy birthday!
WKELC would like to wish Miss Frankie a very happy birthday!
Labeling your child’s belongings is important for many reasons! Now more than ever, we do not want to confuse a child’s belongings. WKELC does require children’s items to labeled. We have included a few links below for reasonable and affordable labels. Of course you can always use your own system!
Wilde Kingdom Early Learning Center teaches about the seasons because it helps children understand the passage of time and teaches them about change. While some seasonal changes are more obvious (like changes in the weather), there are many important smaller differences related to each season. The book “Fletcher and the Falling Leaves” by Julia Rawlinson captures the magic of the changing seasons. “Hi, Koo” by Jon J. Muth is another great book that addresses the many changes of the season.
Wilde Kingdom ELC wants to wish Miss Ghanii a very Happy Birthday!
WKELC would like to wish Miss Ghanii, Assistant Teacher in the Industrious Owl classroom a very happy birthday!
Today, we want to thank all the healthcare workers for the work you do to care for others. You are appreciated!
Happy Saturday Wilde Kingdom Teachers!
Congratulations to Ms. Azia, our November Teacher of the Month. Ms.Azia is our Assistant Koala Teacher. She creates a supportive and caring environment for her lead teacher and the children. Thank you Ms. Azia for being a professional and amazing member of our WKEKC Family! 💚🦖

Christmas Tree Letter Match 🌲 ages 4+ 🌲 We are hard at work on letter recognition so I set up this simple letter match by drawing a Christmas tree and writing all the letters of the alphabet on it. Then I wrote matching letters on colorful dot stickers and asked Alexander to decorate the tree. He happily put all the letters on the tree and was so proud of himself! You could use shapes or colors for younger kids and math facts or sight words for older kids! 🌲😀❤️

Here's a simple, fun, and quite beautiful activity for little ones under 2. Simply take pipe cleaners and create large loops by putting the ends into the holes of a strainer. Once you have created lots of loops, let them get to work pulling all the pipe cleaners out. So much fun for little hands! 👍🏻🌈

Do you know the difference between process art and product art? Product art is when we expect a child to make art that looks like an adult made it. We cut out all the pieces and we tell or show the child where to glue the eyes or that the tree must be painted green. Process art is when we allow children the freedom to create their own art. Perhaps the eyes get glued where the arms should be and maybe the sky is colored orange instead of blue. Process art allows children the freedom to develop their own creativity, provides them with a sense of ownership and pride, and helps them develop critical thinking skills. Here is a great example of free form art!

How do you know when to vaccinate your child? How do you know what diseases are a concern for your child? The charts below are from the U.S. Center for Disease Control, in collaboration with the American Academy of Pediatrics. If you have questions about vaccines, please reach out to your child's doctor for more information. If you need access to free vaccines, look for a Vaccine for Children (VFC) provider online, ask your child's doctor if they participate, or reach out to your county health department. Vaccines play an important role against preventable diseases.

Dancing Candy Hearts 💕ages 3*+ 💕 Here’s a fun twist on our dancing grapes experiment that’s perfect for Valentine’s Day! All you need for this experiment is seltzer water and candy hearts. Simply add the hearts to a glass of seltzer water and watch them rise, fall & dance in the water! The hearts are slightly heavier than the water so they naturally sink to the bottom, but the carbon dioxide bubbles attach to the hearts causing them to rise to the top. Once the hearts reach the top, the bubbles pop and the hearts sink back to the bottom where more bubbles attach to them and the process repeats. So cool!

Drawing on Water ✍️ ages 3+ ✍️ Want to see your drawings float and then make them into tattoos? Use dry erase markers (fresh ones work best) to draw a picture on a glassy or smooth dish. After the drawing dries, gently pour some warm water over the drawing and watch it float to the top of the water. 😍 For even more fun, place your arm or hand over the floating drawing to turn it into a tattoo! Or draw a long swirly line and then erase it by picking it up out of the water once it’s floating! 😱So cool!
👉 Why It Works: Dry erase markers are made of alcohol and a release agent made of silicone oils. When you write with the marker, the alcohol dries up leaving just the release agent. When the water hits the silicone oil, it repels the oil and because it’s less dense than the water it floats to the top!
