Did you know that an Alligator's Sex is determined by the temperature at which its egg was exposed to? Alligator eggs exposed to temperatures above 93F will become males, and while those exposed to 86F will become females. Temperatures in the middle can be either sex.
While alligators ARE terrifying apex predators, they also like to eat fruit when they can't hunt..
Scorpions can be extremely small or rather large. Many attacks may come as a surprise due to how small it is, which is why it's important to wear proper shoes while hiking - otherwise your feet may get unexpectedly stung! Other attacks occur when people try to take photos of or with scorpions found in the wild.
The upper half of your eyes are less able to detect threats than the bottom half of your eyes! This is because historically most threats came from below (ie. snakes, rodents, other humans, etc.) and not from the sky.
Snails will hide in their shells to stay safe from predators. Birds combat this by picking them up and dropping them from very high up to break the shell so they can eat the snail.

Did you know that even small spiders can be trained to do what we want them to? We do this by combining a natural stimulus with an artificial one and "conditioning" the spider to do what we want.
For example, a spider normally curls up when intense wind comes. By blowing on the spider and shining a red laser next to it, the spider will associate the red laser with wind.
After some practice you can then get the spider to curl up - even without wind - just by shining the red laser next to it!

In the event of a bear attack: fight back if the bear is black. They'll likely be scared away. If it's brown, get down and play dead. It's your only best bet. If it's white... goodnight. Polar bear attacks are not common, but in some towns in the Arctic regions it's required to carry a weapon because of how deadly & fierce they can be.
Polar bears are incredibly dangerous if they try to attack you.

Did you know that possums can truly hang from their tails? They don't sleep like that though. Their tails are quite strong and capable of carrying things too while they move around.
The Jewel Wasp is a parasitic wasp that turns cockroaches into zombies! The wasp injects venom into the roach’s brain that weakens its escape reflexes, causing it to lose its free will, while its limbs are still capable of walking. From there, the wasps simply lead the roaches to their burrow to be eaten.
Did you know that mice can live for up to 2 years in a lab setting? In nature, they typically don’t last longer than 5 months, thanks to predators, pets, and exterminators. In a lab, mice are much safer because they aren’t perceived as pests.
Many types of insects can survive decapitation, not just cockroaches! While humans need their heads to breathe, insects’ circulatory systems are spread across their entire bodies. These bugs also don’t need to eat as often, so they can live for weeks without their heads!
While bees have barbed stingers that get caught when they sting you (tearing off half of their abdomen when they pull back), wasps have needle-shaped stingers that they can use as many times as they want, and fly away completely unharmed!
