BIOGRAPHY
Dr. Shell is a 1981 graduate of the University of Tennessee College of Medicine. He completed a surgical residency at Vanderbilt University Hospital, and an additional residency in orthopaedic surgery at the University of Tennessee's Campbell Clinic in Memphis. He is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.
Dr. Shell joined The Lipscomb Clinic in January 1987. His primary focus is on joint replacement and adult reconstructive surgery. He finds this area of orthopaedics very rewarding because treatment often results in dramatic improvements for patients whose level of activity may have been severely limited by crippling conditions.
Dr. Shell is a member of the medical staff of Saint Thomas West Hospital and of Centennial Medical Center. He serves as Chief of the Department of Orthopaedics at Saint Thomas Hospital.
A native Nashvillian, Dr. Shell graduated from Montgomery Bell Academy and completed his undergraduate work at Vanderbilt University. He was Student Body President during his graduate medical training at the University of Tennessee.
Dr. Shell is married and has three children. He enjoys spending his free time participating in outdoor activities.
