Good morning Delaware and Columbus! It's Walk day! We are lacing up our sneakers and prepping for the big day.
Up first is our Delaware Walk to End Alzheimer's with our Opening Ceremony kicking off at Noon followed by our Columbus Walk to End Alzheimer's Opening Ceremony at 2 p.m.

Thanks to the Delaware Run resident band, The Outsiders, for their wonderful concert the other day! Independent residents were able to sit out on their balconies or bring a lawn chair to enjoy the toe-tapping tunes.
Centrum residents enjoyed an afternoon of “riding the rails” through the music of StringSide! These young musicians sang favorite songs about American railroads, including: "Chattanooga Choo Choo," "Wabash Cannonball" and "The Last Train to Clarksville." Thanks for your concert!
Look at those giant dahlias grown by resident Chuck Nitschke in his beautiful garden at Willow Brook at Delaware Run. It's a great time of year to bask in nature's beauty, and Chuck has made his patio a sight to behold.
Hands are never idle at Delaware Run, where many residents sew blankets for Touching Little Lives, an organization that gives handmade items to preemies and needy newborns in Ohio. Neighbors Lela Weston and Mary Krider often work together while Marilyn McAdams is always busy stitching blankets.

Thanks to the youth group of Modern Woodmen Delaware Chapter, which donated painted pumpkins for our assisted living residents at Delaware Run. Hats off to Tiffani Zagorski for bringing them to us. And then an anonymous donor dropped off pumpkins for our twin-single residents. You're making the fall season colorful and delightful for us!
Our assisted living residents at Willow Brook Christian Village are making winter preparations for our bird friends by painting handcrafted birdhouses. Little birds, you will always have shelter here!
We played "Minute to Win It" in Cherith, our nursing home at The Village. Our games featured minute-long games like Hershey Kiss Unwrap (how many kisses can you unwrap); Chopstick Maneuvering (how many bingo chips can you move using chopsticks); Penny Stacking (name as many presidents as you can); and Keep the balloon in the air.

Seize the Day! Our assisted living residents at The Village were proud to host the Carpe Diem String Quartet, which performed classical and folk tunes. These musicians live out-of-state and gather annually to share their love of music with facilities in Ohio. We're blessed to be on their “list.
America, it's time to vote! World War II Veteran Charles Allen, nearly 102 years old, didn't let a pandemic stop him from voting. Delaware Run completed their first wave of COVID vaccines yesterday. We had such a great turnout from both residents and staff. Cheers to the first steps towards a brighter 2021.

Great news for the New Year! We've been notified of the dates for our COVID-19 vaccinations. The Home is scheduled for January 5, Delaware Run receives theirs on the 6th and 7th, while The Village is vaccinated on the 14th. Dr. Hucek, Medical Director at our Delaware campuses, encourages everyone to get their vaccines when able. Valentine's Day is almost here! Our Delaware Run culinary staff created a beautiful Valentine's tree to celebrate the day when we honor our bonds of friendship and love.
Since most of our residents and staff have received their full COVID vaccine, the question arises, "When can we be done with these masks?" Our very own Dr. Hucek explains the answer to this question in his newest video.
In honor of National Hot Chocolate Day, the staff of Modern Woodmen Summit Chapter 18137 gave one of our residents a delicious and fascinating gift …. A Hot Chocolate Bomb.
This sweet treat was quite a fun activity. Watching the drink mix “explode” in our cup was almost as fun as tasting it.
We took advantage of the frigid day and made our own snowmen out of real snow in resident rooms this afternoon. It brought out a lot of childlike joy, memories of games in the snow, and howls of laughter today with Cherith residents at The Village.
The American Heritage girls from St Marys came to Delaware Run's assisted living this weekend to lift spirits with valentines and waves. Thanks for coming girls, you're a breath of fresh air!
