About

We’ve worked hard to create a space that’s welcoming, relaxing, and most of all, fun, for you and your child. In fact, we like to think of it more as a dental “home” than a dental “office.” The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry defines a dental home as an “ongoing relationship between the dentist and the patient, inclusive of all aspects of oral health care delivered in a comprehensive, continuously accessible, coordinated, and family-centered way.” From the caring and knowledgeable dentist and staff, to the child, parent and eco-friendly equipment and furnishings, we’ve done our best to make you feel like family in a place that will become your child’s dental home for years to come. Our mission is to provide the kids of Pittsburgh with high quality dental education and treatment needed to grow into happy, healthy adults.

Take a look around. Learn more about our unique ability to connect with and provide top notch dental care to children of all ages. Check out our wide range of services and how we make them as comfortable as possible. Meet Dr. Erin and browse the gallery to find out how we, along with Artemis Environmental, a local “green” construction and design company, have thoughtfully planned and built (from scratch!) a comfortable, healthy and safe space for you, your kids and our planet.

Pop quiz: what do I love more than making healthy smiles and happy little humans? 🤔 Pictures!! 📸 So when this cutie rocked her treatment visit then whipped out her phone and pretended to take a selfie (it's an old phone and doesn't actually work-she wanted it so that she could get a pop socket like mine 🤣), I just had to get in on a real one with her. Her perfect duck face though 🤳🏽 Looks like my job here is done folks! 💜
Ok, are you ready for our big announcement?! 👀 We're growing! That's right...our team of 2 is becoming a team of 3. Now to hire the right person for our team 🤔 It's gonna take quite the special person to fit in with this crew. Quite literally another 🦄 like Ms. Taiya. Someone who understands that we aren't just any other office. Someone who understands that you all are family. And Someone who just gets our vibe, ya know? 💜 So if you know of a great dental assistant or someone with an awesome personality and work ethic who can be coached into a great assistant, send them our way or give them our info 👍🏽 And most importantly, they MUST like taking pictures with our adorable patients. That's a non-negotiable 😁
Another first visit superstar...seems to be the trend around here! 💜 Taiya and I have a big announcement for you. Can you guess what it is? Let us know your thoughts below 👇🏽
Can you even believe our new friend was nervous before her first appointment with us? 🤷🏽‍♀️ Well as you can tell, she did amazing, and so did her Dad with snapping this pic! 📸 One of the best ways to prep before an appointment is to use positive, age appropriate language, even if you don't love visiting the dentist yourself 👍🏽 What other questions do you have about preparing for a visit to our office? 👇🏽
Ms. Taiya before and after PPE 🥴 Things definitely look a little different around here these days, but the kids have been so great with getting used to the new stuff real quick. That's the great thing about kids. They're so resilient and adaptable. Remember that when you're stressing about if you made the right schooling decision for them this year. Spoiler alert: whatever decision is best for you and your family is the right decision 👍🏽 Taiya is modeling the protective gear we wear during aerosol producing procedures like fillings, crowns etc. The full gear is: n95 mask, surgical mask over that, eye protection (she put her's on after this pic, don't worry), face shield, hair bonnet, and fluid resistant knee length gown. I think I got everything 😓 So if the office feels like an Igloo when you come in, it's because we have 55 lbs of clothes on. But seriously we're doing everything we can to protect you, our team and our community. Besides this gear and only doing treatment on select days (which we've always done), we also let the treatment room air out for at least a half hour after aerosol producing procedures. Our NASA developed air purifiers should be coming soon, and that'll keep things even cleaner and safer! 💜 Remember to give us a call if you have questions about our new policies and procedures. See you soon if we haven't already 🤳🏽
Hey everyone! How are we all doing? 👋🏽 It's been a while since we've posted on here, and that's because we've been working hard to get as many kids as we can into the office before school starts, and we're still getting those of you who had to miss appointments in March-June back in as well 😬 If your kiddo was scheduled during one of those months and you still need to get back in, give us a call! Pretty sure we've called, emailed, or messaged most everybody, but if you haven't heard from us, definitely give us a ring 🤳🏽 A few reminders (you all have been doing pretty great with these): ✔ Unless otherwise stated by our team, only the kid(s) with an appointment plus one parent per family are allowed into the office. No sibs, neighbors, etc ✔ If you or child has been sick recently or in close contact with an ill person, please contact us prior to your appointment. For everyone's health and safety we may need to reschedule ✔ If you've traveled out of state recently, please also contact us prior to your appointment. This is especially important for kids getting treatment (fillings, etc) done. Again this is for everyone's safety ✔ If you need to reschedule for any reason - any of the above, insurance changes, feeling uneasy about coming in, whatever - we require 48 business hours notice. If appts are canceled without 48 business hours notice, you will be assessed a cancelation fee. We really don't want to charge you, but it messes with our now very limited schedule to have no shows or cancelations on such short notice. Plus it takes away time where another kiddo in need could have been seen 👎🏽 ✔ Finally, dont forget your mask! All adults are required face masks/coverings and kids over 2 are asked to wear one as well All of these updates and more can be found on our website www.winningsmilespgh.com but let us know if you have questions. It's been great seeing everybody and especially seeing all of the kids' cute little masks! Who knew that would be the accessory of the season 🤣
Everyone help me wish Dr. Erin a Happy Birthday. 🥂🍾🎉 Hope you are enjoying your time off.
Before the appt: "I'm going to be brave. There's nothing to be afraid of!" 🙏🏽 After the appt :"That was so easy. I wasn't scared at all and I was so brave!" 💪🏽 3 year old reviews are my favorite reviews 💜 #drerinmakesmesmile #pittsburghkidsdentist #cavityfreechamp
Have a happy, fun and safe Halloween!! 🎃 Don't forget to show us your costumes below 👇🏽 This is all I could manage throw together this year 🙃
Worried about keeping your kids teeth in good shape during Halloween weekend? 😬 Well here's a video I made discussing 4 tips to help you avoid mouth monsters 😱 In the end, remember: cavities don't form in one night! With good daily oral hygiene habits and following the tips in this video, you can relax and let your kids have some fun this weekend 🎃 Don't forget to show us your costumes! 👇🏽
Meet our newest team member, Winnie! 💙 I painted Winnie Smiles this past weekend at the pumpkin patch, and now she and Ms. Taiya greet all of you walking through our doors. What a duo! 👍🏽 Speaking of which...we're still looking for a great new (human) team member. So if you know someone who is or could be trained to be a great dental assistant, please have them contact us. Previous experience is preferred but not required. What's most important is an awesome personality. We can teach dental assisting, but we can't teach being fun 😉 Have any of you painted or carved pumpkins yet? Show us below! 🎃
Christmas came early! 🎁 Last weekend, I brought home this cute little ball of fuzz, Devereaux! 🐶 Devereaux (bonus points if you know where this name comes from) AKA Reaux, is a mini goldendoodle and she is the sweetest, most cuddly pup ever...until she gets the zoomies at night 🙄 She has "sit" pretty much down and one day I hope to get her trained/certified as a therapy dog! 💜 What do you think? Would you request Reaux as a therapy dog for your kids' next visit to our office? 👍🏽
It's that time of the year! 🎄 We're decorating the office for the holidays but of all the decor, our fave has to be cards with our patients' smiling faces 😁 Pretty soon the whole front desk will be covered in cards and we can't wait! Will we see your kiddos face up there this year? 🙏🏽
My Dad (pictured here with me and my sisters) served in the Army and was stationed in Germany 🎖 Thanking him, tons of Uncles, Aunts, cousins, grandparents and friends for their service today and every day! 🇺🇸 Drop a photo of your fave Vet below 👇🏽
