Meet Luna! This pretty lady is currently in a foster home, but is looking for her forever. Luna is an incredibly loving and fun girl who has been a shelter pet for way too long. Luna is not a fan of other kitties, so should be the only cat in her future home. Interested in meeting Luna? Fill out our adoption questionnaire here: https://womensanimalcenter.org/form/adoption-application
For today's featured animal, we wanted to once again spotlight Shelby! Shelby first came to us in March after her owner passed away. At 150 pounds, Shelby was severely overweight and had difficulty walking or standing. She was shut down, confused, and would plop on the floor when anyone tried to walk her. Thankfully, Shelby went to an incredible foster home. They put her on a diet, got her into shape, and really brought her true colors out. These days, Shelby weighs around 85 pounds and loves to RUN around! We never thought we would see her run!! Shelby needs to go to a home with no other animals, but she has all of the love that you need. If you would like to meet Shelby, please call or message us!

Today begins our Walking in a WHISKER Wonderland! adoption special! This week, all of our longer term cats can be adopted for just $25. Help us get all of our sweet felines into homes for the holidays. One of the beauties available for adoption is Sophie here! Sophie is a bit on the shy and reserved side, though she does love her head scratches. Sophie would do best in a home without young kids or cats, due to her shy demeanor. This Saturday marks Sophie's one year of being in the shelter. Share for this sweet girl and let's get her a home!! 😻❤🐾
HAPPENING NOW Walking in a WHISKER Wonderland!

Junior is still looking for his perfect home, and we would love for him to find it just in time for the holidays! Junior is a 5 year old pittie with lots of energy and all of the love in the world. He needs to be an only pet, but will show you his appreciation in constant kisses and cuddles. Please share for this sweet, handsome boy 🐕!!!
With the fullest hearts and tearful eyes, we are ECSTATIC to share that our longest resident, Junior, has gone home!!!!! Junior spent over 2 years total in our shelter between multiple stays, and has given our staff and volunteers so much love during that time. Today we finally got to celebrate him as our whole staff clapped and waved him farewell. Thank you to the incredible family who now has the best addition to their home♥️. We love you Junior, have the greatest life!

2020 has been a year like no other, and yet we dare to hope that the New Year will be happier…safer…healthier for you and all those you love. At this very special time of year, as we reflect on those things that are most important to us and look ahead to 2021, we ask you to make a difference…to give precious hope. Your donation gives hope in the form of lifesaving medications, vaccines, and surgeries for animals in need. Your donation helps stray, homeless, and surrendered dogs, cats, and small animals find loving homes. You make this good work – this vital work – possible. Please make a gift today to help the animals that find their way to Women’s Animal Center each week. Please let them know they are not forgotten. Whatever amount is comfortable for you, whatever you can do…please know that it will make a difference – perhaps even the difference between life and death – for an animal in need.
Wishing you all a healthy and happy holiday!

Shelby says: “2020 was a RUFF year… but I’m PAWSITIVE that 2021 will be a much better year – for both you and me. Let’s work together to turn our frowns up side down!" (and find me a new home) I am five years old and found myself here at the shelter because my owner died and there was no one else who could care for me. I am a no nonsense girl who is looking for a quiet home with no other animals and only children over age 18. (No young ones and their shenanigans for me!) I really enjoy my time outside running in the grass and would love a fenced in yard to romp and play in. I do like to go on walks, but I am not in it for the long haul. Shorter walks are all I need. If you think we might be a match please visit www.womensanimalcenter.org click on the Adopt A Pet link and visit the adoptions process page to fill out an interest form questionnaire. After reviewing your form, my friends in the Adoption Center will contact you to set up an appointment to meet me!
Hi! I’m Lily and I’m looking for someone to help me with my New Year’s Resolution… to find a new home! Lily is a mild mannered, quiet girl who would love the chance to live in a home where she will be loved and cherished. Lily is 10 years old and there is plenty of her to love since she weighs 24 pounds. She will need a family committed to helping her lose weight so that she can be more comfortable. She did previously live with another cat and could possibly share her new home with one as long as proper introductions are done. If you would like to meet Lily please visit our website at www.womensanimalcenter.org and complete the adoption questionnaire under the adoption process and fees tab. Once your questionnaire is reviewed - a counselor will be in touch with you to set up an appointment for a meet with Lily.

Getting ready for tomorrow's winter snow? ❄❄ Are you looking to make snowy days a little extra fun for your pup? Why not scatter some of their favorite treats in the snow and let them go on a “sniffari” and find them. Remember to keep your sessions short & supervised to provide some fun in the snow without your pup getting too cold or getting into anything they shouldn’t! Honey Lulu is enjoying her recent "Sniffari" adventure in our shelter play yard.

Our little Piper can't play the flute, however, she can tug on your heart strings. This little four year old Tabby would do best in a home without small children (10+ please) and no dogs. She has lived with another cat before. Piper enjoys the company of calm adults and will snuggle and play with her loving humans. If interested in providing a forever home for Piper, please complete and submit the 'adoptions interest form' on the adopt a pet page of our website. www.womensanimalcenter.org

There's no mistaking the beauty of a black and white cat! Meet Raven Claw! She's a 1 year old tuxedo kitty. Raven Claw could benefit from a human that would give her a little space at home so she can adjust. As a stray, friendliness at first was not her strong suit, but we believe she will get there once she finds her perfect human companion. If interested in Raven Claw, please complete the adoptions interest form on the adopt a pet page of our website. www.womensanimalcenter.org

Who doesn't love Gritty! Our Gritty kitty is named after the Flyers furry orange mascot we all know and love because of this cat's determination and grit. One of our adoptions staff found Gritty pretending he was part of a feral colony; maybe he thought he was joining one of the Flyers' forward lines. Gritty is a one year old male and a friendly goofball who absolutely loves to snuggle. We think these two share the same googly eyes. If interested in adopting Gritty, please visit the adopt a pet page of our web site and complete/submit the adoptions interest form. Grittynhl www.womensanimalcenter.org

We couldn't be happier for Cash and Honey Lulu who found their forever homes this week. We featured both dogs over the Valentine's holiday weekend and each pup now has a new home and a new 'leash' on life. We can't wait to share updates about how both of these beautiful dogs are doing with their adopting families. We're grateful to all of our adopters for giving hope and love to a shelter animal. You may remember this adorable duo! Sophie and Lulu are 8 years old and currently housed in our community cat room until they find their forever home. Sophie is a dark colored calico and Lulu is light grey. These two inseparable gal pals were surrendered together when their owner became ill. They are very sweet and friendly, a bit fearful of other cats and dogs, but good with younger kids. Once they get to know you their warmth and bond is unbreakable. We would love to adopt these two lifelong friends into one home if possible. Interested in Sophie and Lulu: visit the adopt a pet page on our website and complete the adoption interest form. www.womensanimalcenter.org

He's happy, loves everyone, smiles for the camera, and lives for his favorite squeaky toys. His parents tell us Lucky is 1/2 Bischon, 1/2 Shih-Tzu and a 100% heartbreaker, and they couldn't imagine their lives without him. Just look at these beautiful pictures! Our little 'Toasted Marshmallow' is looking for her forever home. This sweet and shy three year old kitty was brought in from the cold by one of our staff members. She had been abandoned on the streets for a number of weeks and had been relying on the kindness of strangers to provide her food. We have provided her safe shelter, nutritious food and medical care, as she currently has a kitty cold that is being treated by our veterinary team. Toasted Marshmallow would do much better in a loving home where she can recover and come out of her shell. If interested in adopting this sweet kitty, please visit the adopt a pet page of our web site and complete/submit the adoption interest form. www.womensanimalcenter.org
We welcomed a most thoughtful Kindergarten student to Women's Animal Center. Shea is five years old and a student at Hope Lutheran Church and School. Her classmates were assigned a Family Service project and Shea and her mom, Lauren, chose us because they adopted their cat from our shelter. They collected much needed and appreciated supplies to help us care for the shelter animals. We're grateful to this thoughtful little girl.

The millions of animal lives that have been saved across the country since the formation of Women's Animal Center - America's First Animal Shelter TM - are reason enough to celebrate the women who made it all possible this Women's History Month. Mary F. Lovell's impact upon the cause of animal welfare was notable and far-reaching. Over the course of several decades, she led Women's Animal Center in various roles, including as VP and Secretary. She became the closest friend and ally of our founder, Caroline Earle White, and with her helped to establish the American Anti-Vivisection Society, the first U.S. organization dedicated to ending animal testing. Mary Lovell dedicated her life to the cause through her tireless work, and left behind a wealth of books and essays shedding light upon all forms of cruelty towards animals, once advising, "This world being full of sorrow and pain, no class of creatures should be outside the pale of compassion and humaneness." www.womensanimalcenter.org National Women's History Museum American Anti-Vivisection Society

It's Black and White Cat week! We'll be featuring a bunch of our beautiful B&W kitties available for adoption. First up.. Edgar. This handsome boy is 5-6 years old. Just look at those eyes! He was a bit shy at first but now his purrrrsonality reminds us of a mix of Friends and a little bit of American Ninja Warrior. He can be silly and relaxed and also likes to nibble playfully on your arm so we recommend a home with kids over the age of 13. Edgar likes to bat around his toys in the shelter kennel. We think he's getting ready for baseball season. If interested in Edgar, visit the adopt a pet page on our web site and complete/submit the adoption interest form. www.womensanimalcenter.org

🍀🐾 Happy St. Paw-Trick's Day! 🍀🐾 We're all about leprechauns, clovers and shelter dogs like Junior! He's a 6 year old red pit bull mix with lots of energy, and he's back with us and now looking for his forever home. Junior would do best with a family willing to walk and provide him active play time outdoors. Chasing a ball is one of his favorite activities. Junior must be the only pet in the home and no kids under 18. He has much to give to that special human willing to understand, work with him and have patience for him while he's adjusting. Junior has been loving with our staff and volunteers, especially dedicated volunteer Glen. We hope this will be Junior's Lucky Day! Marsh has lived with another cat and they got along nicely. He had brief interactions with a dog and kids and was good with two and four-legged friends.
