Dr. Alshahrour earned his medical degree from the University of Aleppo, Faculty of Medicine in Syria. He completed his medical internship at New York Methodist Hospital in Park Slope, Brooklyn, and his specialty training in obstetrics and gynecology from John J. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County in Chicago’s Illinois Medical District.
Dr. Alshahrour continues to take an active role in his continuing education and is part of multiple research teams in obstetrics and gynecology at multiple institutions like the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. In 2005, he had the chance to work with renowned urogynecological surgeon, Dr. Oscar Flores-Carreras at the University of Guadalajara in Mexico, receiving extensive hands-on training in incontinence and pelvic prolapse surgery.

Dr. Alshahrour is a fellow at the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and has an affiliation with Presence Health, the largest Catholic healthcare organization in Illinois that includes hospitals like Presence Saint Joseph Hospital and Presence Our Lady of Resurrection Medical Center in Chicago. He can also practice at other prominent hospitals in Chicago, such as the Louis A. Weiss Memorial Hospital, Norwegian American Hospital, and Saint Anthony Hospital.
