Coined in the Machine Age, "user experience" is a term commonly thrown around in marketing and design, however its current meaning isn't all that far off from its origins. In many ways, just as Henry Ford reimagined how laborers interacted with their tools and work environment to increase production, marketers and designers continually examine how users interact with websites to encourage purchases and other user actions. Check out our new blog post to learn about how to create a successful - and consistent - user experience: https://bit.ly/33jPc7E WORKHORSEMKT.COM Defining Successful User Experience (UX) Today

Too often, color choices in branding and advertising are made on a whim, but they play a bigger role in getting your message noticed than you realize. Today on the blog, color is taking center stage. https://www.workhorsemkt.com/4-things-every-marketer-should-know-about-color/
2020 was an unforgettable year to say the least, so to close it out, we're doing a year in review featuring some of the projects Workhorse had the pleasure of being a part of. First up, our strategy team looks back on The Hub Garage, a brand new nonprofit that fixes used cars and donates them to single mothers in need. Here's what they had to say about it: "The HUB will have such a positive impact on the community by helping single mothers in need get access to reliable transportation. The vision for this nonprofit was one that really inspired us, and we can't wait to see where their work goes in 2021." Tell us about your team's big wins in 2020 and what you're looking forward to in 2021!

The addition of our productions division back in July meant a busy fall for our Director of Digital Content, Elijah! His recent livestream with Capital Area Tennis Association (CATA) Austin, Texas was his pick for production's year in review. Here's what he had to say about the project: "Due to COVID they were not able to host the awards ceremony in person so I enjoyed helping them with the vision, planning and production of their video to be used on a live broadcast. It had a great time using green screens and working with one of my favorite pieces of equipment, the Blackmagic 6K camera." Tell us about your team's big wins in 2020 and what you're looking forward to in 2021!
Next up in our year in review is our design team with @RodeoAustin, one of the top 5 pro rodeos in the United States! Here's what our designer Alan had to say about the project: "To date, this was the largest website that I have designed with over 40 unique page types. Designing a website in the entertainment/non-profit sector was also an exciting change of pace." Tell us about your team's big wins in 2020 and what you're looking forward to in 2021!
2020 was tough for so many local businesses, and we want to lend a helping hand. Check out the link below to see how you can nominate a business or nonprofit to receive up to 50 hours of marketing/web services! Whether it's shaping up a website or kicking off a campaign that drives new customers, we want to set an Austin business up for success in 2021. Help us out by nominating a business you love: https://www.workhorsemkt.com/2020-holiday-giveaway/
Thank you for your continued support in a year that's been like no other. Our (virtual) doors are closed today and tomorrow, but we'll be back on Monday. Wishing you a safe and happy holiday and a bright New Year!
While reflecting on 2020, we couldn’t help but think about the other small businesses in Austin and how we could help them start 2021 strong. That’s why we launched Workhorse Gives Back earlier this month, which calls upon our community for nominations of a business that could use up to 50 hours of our services for free. We’re accepting submissions until December 31st at midnight, so make sure you nominate your favorite business before time runs out! (And yes, you can nominate yourself.) Check it out here: https://www.workhorsemkt.com/2020-holiday-giveaway/
This year, our development team has been busy helping many of our clients transition their businesses during the pandemic. The web app they recently created for our client Sympliant was their choice for their year in review feature! The app is used in hospitals and clinics' endoscopy units in order to track scope usage—something which revolutionizes the field! Here's what they had to say about the project: "We had originally been using a pin-code system where whenever someone using the app did pretty much anything they would have to enter a pin in order to log who was doing each step. Now the app can scan the person using the app and complete that step with little effort on the users part. To accomplish this we, along with some of our freelancers used something we hadn't previously used, Amazon's Rekognition API. We were very happy with the end results!" Share something you tried out for the first time in 2020 in the comments!
In a year where marketing looked unlike any year before, one could say our marketing team's word of the year was "pivot". A prime example of that was their work with Camp Olympia where the entire business model changed midway through the year—that's why they selected it for our Year in Review! Here's what they had to say about it: "Like every industry, Camp Olympia was hugely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, but working with their team to bring the joy of camp into peoples homes when they needed it the most was a massive bright spot in our year." What client was a bright spot for your team? Tell us about a project that brought some light into your life this year in the comments!
🎨 Do you use color theory to develop brand identities? 🎨 We're big fans of using the basics of color theory to help us build out color palettes for our clients. Some of our go-to combinations are triadic, tetradic, and complementary pairings. ⚡TRIAD: uses 3 colors spaced evenly around the color wheel, creating a triangle. These harmonies tend to be vibrant and carefully balanced, by letting one dominate and two for accent colors. ⚡TETRADIC: uses 4 colors arranged in two complementary pairs, creating a rectangle around the color wheel. This offers a variety of possibilities for variations, and we recommend letting one color be dominant in the palette and maintain a balance between warm and cool colors. ⚡COMPLEMENTARY: one of the most basic color pairings, complementary colors are opposite each other on the color wheel. These are high contrast colors usually that create a vibrant look, so recommend using these in small doses and avoiding using them for text. Tell us in the comments what your favorite color combinations are lately!
Happy New Year! Our offices are closed until Monday, and we hope you'll join us in planning for what 2021 holds. If that means a marketing strategy, website redesign, or video project, we'd love to hear from you!
Tomorrow is the LAST DAY to nominate a business for Workhorse Gives Back! The submission form will close at midnight and the winner will be contacted in early January. Not sure what Workhorse Gives Back is? It's our way of saying thank you to our community for supporting us in 2020—by giving up to 50 hours of website or marketing services to a local small business that needs it. Tell us why you or your favorite business deserves a helping hand in 2021: https://bit.ly/2J20arj

The Pantone Color(s) of the Year are here, and we're big fans of the bright outlook. PANTONE described the combination as, "A marriage of color conveying a message of strength and hopefulness that is both enduring and uplifting."
