#regram • @jenbfei Today is National Suicide Physician Awareness Day. The theme this year is “One of Us”. For the millionth time since April 26, I find myself thinking there must be a mistake- this isn’t our story. We share my sister’s story in an effort to expose the stigma of mental health in the health care community. All these people working in healthcare every day are one of us. Every damn one.

Even when well-managed, diabetes places people at high risk of developing serious flu complications. Flu illness can also make it harder to control blood sugar. Getting a flu vaccine is the best protection against flu and its potentially serious complications for people with diabetes. Learn more: https://www.cdc.gov/flu/highrisk/diabetes.htm.

We’re back again for another Ask Project Firstline with Dr. Abby.
Q: Facemasks are recommended at work, but do you need to wear one when you’re not around any patients?
A: Yes. Medical facemasks, like surgical masks or procedure masks, are always recommended in all healthcare facilities for everyone, whether you’re around patients or not. This is for source control, or stopping the potential for infections at the source. Wearing your facemask to keep your respiratory droplets out of the air is a simple but effective way to protect yourself, your colleagues, your patients, and your community.
Have more questions about PPE? Check out our videos tab right here on Facebook to catch up on all our PPE and other Inside Infection Control episodes.
