Y. Mark Hong, M.D. is a Phoenix native, Board-certified urologist specializing in minimally invasive surgery at Arizona State Urology, a division of Ironwood Cancer Centers. Dr. Hong has been featured on WebMD, ABC, CBS, Fox News, NBC, PBS, 3-TV, KTAR-radio and the Arizona Republic.
Upon graduating summa cum laude from Rice University with a 4.0 GPA, Dr. Hong attended Stanford University School of Medicine where he received several awards and research fellowships in areas as diverse as prostate cancer and tissue engineering with artificial nerve grafts. Dr. Hong also published a case study through Harvard Business School Press for Stanford and Harvard Business Schools' curriculums.
Dr. Hong completed his general surgery training at the world-renowned Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts and his urological surgery residency at Harvard Medical School. While at Harvard, Dr. Hong was selected as a national CaPSURE scholar, a prestigious research fellowship which allowed him to lead projects with world-leading scientists from Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and University of California San Francisco. His research on prostate cancer and the fear of cancer recurrence remains one of the first works of its kind in the published literature.

He was internationally recognized as an expert in minimally invasive surgery by the Endourological Society in Munich, Germany 2009. Dr. Hong has first-authored publications in almost every major international urological journal from prostate cancer detection to bladder cancer to health care policy. His latest presentations regarding Greenlight™ laser for BPH in the office are among the first in the world. Dr. Hong is a Diplomate of the American Board of Urology.
