Eyecarefaq September 27 at 2:41 PM · How should I clean my spectacles? There are some simple dos and don’ts when cleaning your specs. You will be given a spectacle cleaning cloth when you pick up your specs, and that’s the best thing to use, along with specialist specs cleaning spray. Avoid cleaning your specs without using the spray as you can inadvertently scratch the lenses if there is dirt on the surface. So, the best routine is to spray or rinse your specs, then polish with a soft lint-free cloth. Clean your specs regularly for optimum vision, and avoid using paper tissues which can scratch the lenses.
Eyecarefaq September 27 at 2:30 AM · Which part of the spectacle lens should I look through? Every spectacle lens has a centre, and you should be looking through the centre of your lenses. When you select your frame the Dispensing Optician will mark up where your eyes are centred within the frame. Your spectacle lenses will be cut so that their centre lines up with your pupils, ensuring that you look through the correct part for crisp clear vision. On collecting your specs your Dispensing Optician will again check that the lenses are centred correctly. Over time, however, your spectacle frames can become loose through taking them on and off. You may want to return to the optician every few months for adjustments so that you continue to get optimum vision.

Eyecarefaq October 19 at 2:55 AM · How should I protect my eyes when doing DIY? Always protect your eyes when doing DIY. You could damage your eyes if there are flying particles or dust, whether you are drilling, using a hammer or chisel. Chemical compounds, everything from ammonia to acids to even super glue can harm your eyes. Did you know there are more accidents in the home than at work? If you don’t need specs pick up some ‘wrap around goggles’ made from injection moulded Polycarbonate. These are widely available from a few quid so there is no reason not to have a pair with your tools. If you wear specs, you may be able to find goggles that fit over the top, or call in and speak to a registered dispensing optician for advice.
