Another phone alert. Agh. This is not the post we were planning on putting up today. You can find an indication of our mood by examining the image of our furry friend here.
So, we've "upgraded" our phone system, and we're working out the kinks, but yesterday apparently clients started getting busy signals and "cannot connect" messages when calling our main line. We've talked to the phone company and it is being investigated, but we just wanted to put up a public apology and let everyone know about it, as it is undoubtedly annoying.
If you try to call and cannot get through, try email at info@abbeywoodcathospital.com, and an alert will come up immediately on our reception computers. More updates as warranted.
Ideally, tomorrow we'll have a GOOD thing to post about. Grump grump grump.

POLL: REOPENING ABBEYWOOD COVID POLL
Phones update: So,our phones are working. Kind of. We have several lines, and if one is busy, it is supposed to roll over and ring the next one. If they are all busy, then it should go to voicemail.
At this point, we have three lines working (of five) but only two are properly networked. So, you can indeed call right meow...but getting through is still a bit hit or miss, if less so than previously.
Please bear with us. Sigh.
Please be aware that as of 6/24, an error during the install of an additional phone line reduced us to a single incoming line. If you call and are sent to voicemail, consider calling back in a few minutes, or emailing us at client.care@abbeywoodcathospital.com. We are otherwise checking voicemail frequently. Thanks for your understanding and patience!
Sigh...
This is probably less exciting from the perspective of the public, but: our new Hematology Analyzer just arrived! (Supplies to actually use it are arriving soon...) Soon, we will be able to get rapid, in-house results for (some) blood tests, which is super cool!
To be fair, we will still be sending most of our blood samples out to the reference lab for processing and results. The cost for the supplies to run samples in house on the analyzer can be significant, so it is a better value for everyone to send them out whenever possible.
But! Now we will be able to run bloodwork in urgent emergency situations where we can't wait for results, or when it simply isn't feasible to wait 24 hours for results, like immediately before surgery. (That, by the way, is one of the many reasons why prices at an emergency clinic are relatively high: diagnostic equipment isn't cheap to purchase, maintain, or use.)
New news for a new year!
So, when Dr. Ubatuba and I (Seth) first started out here at Abbeywood about 15 months ago, I initially was putting in a fair bit of time keeping the website and FB updated. But, then things got busy...our son Rex became mobile, second semester started at the school where I taught, covid happened, etc.
So, on the spectrum of changes, I've transitioned put of my teaching position to run my own tutoring business, and to spend more time here helping out at the clinic. In fact, I was there doing some paperwork today, and I kept getting dragged away to help hold cats, and help clients, etc. It was fun! (Ignore the alarmed look on the cat I'm holding. She is perpetually alarmed.)
So, expect to see more frequent posts in the future, and more of me around the clinic. Happy new year, everyone!
