Ahmad Raza, MD, MHA, has been named director of the Cheryl R. Lindenbaum Comprehensive Cancer Center at NewYork-Presbyterian Hudson Valley Hospital. He will also serve as assistant professor of medicine in the Division of Hematology and Oncology at Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons. Dr. Raza joins NewYork-Presbyterian Hudson Valley Hospital and Columbia from the University of Minnesota Health, where he served as medical director of community oncology and successfully led a large oncology practice across multiple clinical sites. Dr. Raza will continue to build NewYork-Presbyterian Hudson Valley Hospital’s premier cancer center program, dedicated to providing patients and their families with personalized attention and the highest quality medical care. He will enhance research and clinical collaborations with the Herbert Irving Comprehensive Center at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia and with the hematology and oncology program at NewYork-Presbyterian Lawrence Hospital.Dr. Raza has clinical expertise in thoracic oncology and head and neck cancer, and his research has focused on developing less toxic and more effective cancer treatments for cancer. He has focused his efforts on bringing state-of-the-art oncology clinical trials to the communities served by Minnesota Health cancer care clinics. He has been published in several peer-reviewed journals, including the American Journal of Hematology, American Journal of Medicine, and Leukemia and Lymphoma. He is passionate about community health and will strive to broaden access to cancer care for underserved populations and partner with the Hudson Valley community to address overall population health.
