Matthew D. Cantor, MD, FACOG, is an obstetricianand gynecologist at NewYork-Presbyterian MedicalGroup Hudson Valley and an assistant clinicalprofessor of obstetrics and gynecology at ColumbiaUniversity Medical Center. He practices generalobstetrics and gynecology with clinical interestsin comprehensive prenatal care, family planningservices, and minimally invasive gynecologic surgery.He specializes in operative hysteroscopy, colposcopyand cervical conization, and laparoscopy. He alsocares for high-risk obstetric patients and supportsvaginal birth after C-section.Dr. Cantor earned his bachelor and master of sciencein physical therapy from Northeastern Universityin Boston, Massachusetts, and graduated fromthe Medical School for International Health atBen-Gurion University in Be’er Sheva, Israel. Hecompleted his internship and residency in obstetricsand gynecology at Hahnemann University Hospital atDrexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia,Pennsylvania, where he was named chief residentof education. During his residency, Dr. Cantor wasrecognized for his research in HIV, winning theSeymour Stein Memorial OB/GYN Resident ResearchAward and earning the Birthing Ball Award givento the resident who best incorporates midwiferyprinciples into practice.Dr. Cantor joins NewYork-Presbyterian MedicalGroup Hudson Valley from New York Medical College,where he served as an assistant clinical professor ofobstetrics and gynecology. He previously servedas an assistant clinical professor of obstetricsand gynecology at Columbia University andNewYork-Presbyterian at The Allen Hospital from2013 to 2015. Dr. Cantor is a fellow of the AmericanCollege of Obstetrics and Gynecology and memberof the American Association of GynecologicLaparoscopists. He is board certified in obstetrics andgynecology and affiliated with NewYork-PresbyterianHudson Valley Hospital.
