Dr. Allyson B. Fried, DPM, MD, of Culver City, California, has extensive experience in podiatry and foot and ankle surgery. She is one of only a handful of podiatrists in the United States who also holds a medical degree. This, in addition to her 36 years of experience in practice, teaching, and leadership in her field, makes her sought after as a highly skilled podiatrist and medical doctor. Dr. Fried is also a Diplomate of the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgeons and A Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle surgery. She is board-certified in forefoot, rearfoot and ankle surgery.
She began her professional career at Chatham College, in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, where she graduated with honors in 1976. She specialized in the field of podiatry as a graduate of New York College of Podiatric Medicine in 1982 and received her MD at the International University of Health Sciences School of Medicine in 2015. In 1995, she received an honorary Ph.D. from Chatham College as a Doctor in Public Service.
Dr. Fried has written extensively for professional publications and textbooks, drawing from her vast knowledge related to podiatry and medicine. She has also shared her expertise and knowledge to medical students at the University of Southern California and California College of Pediatric Medicine, both as faculty and teacher.
Dr. Allyson Fried is an experienced, amateur long-distance runner, as well as an accomplished dancer. She ran the New Orleans Half Marathon and was one of the top 50 women who ran the New York marathon. She has apprenticed at the New Jersey Ballet Company and uses her specialized knowledge to consult for companies such as Nike and Adidas.
Dr. Fried is most proud of her involvement with the Baja Project for Crippled Children in Mexico. As part of this project, she offers her expertise for clubfoot repairs, and foot and ankle reconstructive surgeries for underprivileged children. She won the Humanitarian Award from the California Podiatric Medical Association in 1995 for her work with the Baja Project.
