Alon Y. Avidan, MD, MPH is Professor and Vice Chair in the Department of Neurology at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, and Director of the UCLA Sleep Disorders Center.
He completed his Neurology Residency at the Georgetown University Medical Center. After residency, he completed fellowship training in Sleep Medicine at the Cleveland Clinic. He was Principal Investigator of a National Heart, Lung & Blood Institute, NIH, Sleep Academic Award. He has published over 100 chapters, letters to the editor, peer reviewed articles and edited five textbooks in sleep medicine. His research focus includes the impact and prognostic
implications of sleep disturbance on underlying neurologic disorders. He enjoys educating physicians and the public about sleep disorders and has recently received the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) 2014 Excellence in Education Award.
