Dr. Nichelle C. Renk is a thorough and compassionate pain physician who is board-certified in anesthesiology and pain medicine by the American Board of Anesthesiology. Dr. Renk serves men and women in and around Anchorage, Alaska, and tailors care to each individual by making the appropriate diagnosis and implementing a multifaceted treatment plan.
Dr. Renk received her medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia before performing her anesthesiology residency at George Washington University Hospital in Washington, DC. She completed her interventional pain medicine fellowship at Stanford Hospital in Palo Alto, California. Stanford Pain Medicine department has twice received the honor of being named a Center of Excellence by the American Pain Society for interdisciplinary care.
For the four years prior to joining a private practice, Dr. Renk was a Major and director of the Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson Pain Management Clinic in the United States Air Force, where she won several awards and consistently achieved a patient satisfaction rate of 99% or greater. She continues to greatly value the experience of providing care for troops, retirees, dependents, and US Veterans Administration beneficiaries.
Dr. Renk was voted Top Doctor in 2017 by Find A Top Doc. She specializes in procedures for the cervical spine, thoracic spine, lumbar spine, sacroiliac joints, and other nerves and joints of the body. Dr. Renk is one of only a few pain management physicians in Alaska to perform state of the art, cooled radiofrequency treatment.
As a regenerative medicine specialist, Dr. Renk also performs epidural platelet-rich plasma therapy to heal diseased discs and spinal nerves. She also manages chronic migraine headaches and performs the very effective Botox™ treatment for migraines.
Dr. Renk is the only provider for Ehlers Danlos Syndrome (EDS) in the state of Alaska. She is passionate about diagnosing and educating patients on especially the hypermobile type of EDS (hEDS) as she has the syndrome and chronic pain herself.
