The majority of classes here at Balance Yoga Center are designed for beginners.
Our most popular beginner's yoga class is BYC Hot Yoga. The room is heated to approximately 105 degrees with 40% humidity and you will sweat. In this class, you will perform a set sequence of 26 classic beginners postures and two breathing exercises. Each asana (or yoga posture) prepares you for the next. This therapeutic style focuses on the health of your spine and internal organs. Check out our Hot Yoga FAQ for more details.
The extremely popular Inferno Hot Pilates combines cardio and muscle toning in a heated room. The high intensity interval training keeps your heart rate up, helping you burn fat. The Pilates principles sculpt your body, creating long, lean muscle mass. The heat loosens up the muscles quickly, and the humidity makes you sweat — elevating your heart rate, boosting metabolism, and promoting detoxification.
The classic Ashtanga Mysore practice is having a renaissance. We offer this system weekdays from 8:30am to 10:45am. If you have never been in a Mysore room, this is your chance to start. The energy in the room is contagious and the practice is addicitve.
We also have non-heated Vinyasa Flow classes. In this vigorous style, most classes are set to music and the sequence is always changing. You will flow from one asana to another linking breath to movement. These athletic classes are designed to build strength and flexibility. Our
non-heated Vinyasa Flow Level 1/2 class is a great place to learn the basics of Vinyasa Flow yoga. Our Warm Vinyasa Level 2/3 classes are done in a room heated to approximately 90 degrees. This class is designed to challenge the intermediate to advanced yogi and it’s also a great class for the strong beginner.
Yin, Gentle, and Restorative Yoga classes are a great change of pace from our more challenging Hot Yoga and Vinyasa classes. Many people enjoy the slower pace of the Yin Yoga class. In this relaxing style, you will be encouraged to breathe deeply while you are guided thru the exercises with soft music and low lighting. Gentle Yoga classes are great for the absolute total beginner. You will perform easy standing and floor poses. This class is perfect for people that are getting back into exercise or recovering from an injury. It’s also a class that can be easily modified for pregnant women or new mothers
