Better Breakfast Awareness Month meets Self Care Month. I'm usually all about protein in the morning if I eat breakfast at all. Hubby loves pancakes, waffles, and ESPECIALLY French toast. This morning, he asked for French toast and we actually had all the ingredients - bread is not one of our everyday staples. I made French toast for the first time in years and we treated ourselves to a rare morning sit-down breakfast. That hour spent sipping coffee, nibbling sweet/savory custard-soaked multigrain bread, and enjoying each other's company was a little slice of heaven before the work day. Was it the best possible nutrition choice? Nope. Was it great for our souls? You betcha! Breakfast meets self-care in a delicious way. #selfcareawarenessmonth #betterbreakfastawarenessmonth #selfcare #foodismedicine #quarantinecuisine #acupuncture #traditionalchinesemedicine #balboaparkholisticwellnesscenter
It's National Self Care Awareness Month. If you considered self care a necessity rather than a luxury or privilege, how would your life be different? And what does self-care mean to you? For me, self care means that my physical, emotional,, and spiritual needs are cared for. It's eating a healthy diet of whole foods, regular exercise, getting enough sleep, drinking enough water, and making sure there is time to do the things which feed my soul - like cooking a great meal, taking a leisurely bike ride, and quality time with my Hubby and cat. It's also disconnecting from social media and choosing not to engage when everyone else is going crazy. #selfcareawarenessmonth #selfcare #acupuncture #traditionalchinesemedicine #selflove #selfcareisntselfish #balboaparkholisticwellnesscenter
Last clinic day before Halloween means the "ears" had to come out. Thought about painting a nose and whiskers on my mask, but didn't have a sharpie in the clinic. Even serious medicine can have a playful side! Wishing everyone a safe and spooky Halloween 👻 🎃 👻 🎃
The Governor has issued a new "stay at home" order for Southern CA. We want to let you know that as a health care business we are NOT affected by this order and will be remaining OPEN!!! If and when dentists and primary care physicians are ordered to see emergency patients only, we will re-evaluate our policy. For now, we are continuing to see our patients and doing ALL the things to keep everyone safe and healthy in our clinic. That said, we ALWAYS take a "Holiday Hibernation" break at the end of December, and our last day in clinic for the year is December 23. If you have flex spending dollars about to be lost, are experiencing pain you've been thinking about getting help for, or simply need a last acupuncture tune-up before the end of the year, be sure to make your appointment soon. We're more than 50% full for the rest of the year and want to make sure YOU are taken care of!
2020 has been quite the year, and I'm so enjoying my 11 days of holiday hibernation. I've been hanging out in my jammies, getting lots of Percy-Kat cuddles, sleeping in, binge watching Netflix (Reign, Dash and Lily, Virgin River, etc.), catching up on reading, hiking my local canyon, and cooking ALL the things. I've also been working on not one, but TWO on-demand video courses which are being released in the next day or two (Squeeeeeeee!!!!!!!). SUPER excited about that, so watch for release posts over the weekend. As this crazy year comes to a close, I want to take a moment to thank every single one of you for being here, showing up for yourselves even when it's hard, helping my small business and others weather the storms we've had, and just being YOU. I'm grateful for the opportunity to be there for you, to be part of your health care team, and to have you in my life. After a nice break, I'm looking forward to being back to serving everyone in the clinic on January 4! Wishing everyone who sees this a happy, HEALTHY, joyful beginning to 2021. In love and gratitude, ~XOXOXO💕
We're super excited to be partnering with Hope After Breast Cancer to offer this new on-demand workshop: Secrets to a Happy, Healthy Vagina. This workshop has been a passion project for me since I started offering free talks in the clinic 3 years ago, and FINALLY it's being released at a special introductory price through Tuesday, January 5. You don't have to be a breast cancer patient to sign up or benefit from this workshop, you just need to have a vagina which isn't working the way it used to, or KNOW someone who's vagina has been "under the weather". Click the link below for all the details: HOPEAFTERBREASTCANCER.COM Secrets to a Happy, Healthy Vagina
Ladies, if you're V is having "issues" and you want to be ready for some Valentine's Day play, check out our latest free talk. Gentlemen, if a lady in your life is "out of commission", please pass this along to her. The things we teach in this talk have helped hundreds of women to reduce pain, restore muscle tone, and increase moisture, all WITHOUT hormones. They are safe for ALL women including hormone-positive cancer patients. We're holding the talk on January 26 from 6-7pm PST, plenty of time to put all of our strategies into action and be ready for a romantic encounter with your hunny on February 14. This event is FREE, and will be held on Zoom. Registration is required to reserve your space and get the link to attend. I hope you don't need this, but if you DO, I hope to see you there! Happy Year of the Ox, everyone! I'm celebrating with dose 2 of the Moderna vaccine this evening. My Grandma always said "hope for the best, prepare for the worst" and since my immune system responded with enthusiasm to dose #1, I'm hoping for less discomfort and preparing for a weekend of feeling meh. Grandma's chicken soup embellished with a liberal dose of Chinese herbs should do the trick. Chicken, onion, celery, carrot, lots of ginger, a full head of garlic, a handful of goji berries, a few jujubes, and a solid pinch of Sichuan peppercorns is in this pot. So many possibilities once the stock is made. Leaning towards a traditional congee with slow cooked rice, bits of chicken, veggies, egg, and chopped peanut seasoned with soy sauce and lemongrass. Or maybe just broth over chopped carrots, spinach, and bok choy with chunks of chicken and some noodles or rice. Either way, it will be warm, nourishing, easy to digest, and soothing. #foodismedicine #foodporn #traditionalchinesemedicine #acupuncture #kitchenmedicine #balboaparkholisticwellnesscenter
