This week marks six months of working remotely. While I can't say that I miss putting on a suit and dress shoes every day, I still remember how to tie a tie!

The upcoming Presidential election will be the third of my career as a Financial Advisor. By now, I'm used to hearing clients say "If (candidate of opposite party) wins I'm selling all my stocks because the market is going to crash!" and I calmly remind them why they shouldn't. Even if you could predict the election outcome, how could you possibly predict how markets, governments, central banks, etc will respond in the following years?
Politics makes for good conversation (maybe?) but investors are better served preparing for a wide range of outcomes, including those that conflict with their worldviews.
In hockey, you want to skate to where the puck is going, not where it is currently. The same is true for investing. Instead of focusing on current market trends, create a investment strategy that is aligned with your life goals and your willingness to take risk. You can't control the market but you can control the steps you take to achieve financial freedom!
